The more I look at both pics I think your right 79. It came out of a 71 charger

No its my block. I have raced that block for ages. But its at my sons house about 20 miles away. I'm gonna go look at it tomorrow . thought if he sent pics I could tell. But its really hard to. It's a standard bore block. I'm fixing to make a 500 out of it and put it in my dsrt

All you have to do is look up the casting #'s
3614230 71 -72 400
3698630 73 - 78 400
4006530 76 - 78 400
so I would say 5 - 23 or 28 - 78 or 76
