Anyone know how to identify an 8 3/4 out of a 68 gts 440? Buying the 3rd member. Now has a 489 4.86 spool. Housing is 59.5 perch to perch. 30 spine stock axles with drums. Priced right weather it's an m code or not. Thanks.

All A bodies (including GTSs of all flavors, M code included) used the same identical 8.75 housing; which by the way, has a 43" perch width (center to center).
The main difference was that in '70-'72 moved the vent down onto the axle tube, '69 and earlier were part way up the center housing.

No such animal as a 68 440 abody unless its Mr Norms car possibly.

The 59" sellers measurement doesn't sound right. Will check the vent tube location! Thank you.

I've seen one. It was a LH23M8 car. Totally rotted out even the roof. I believe it was in Minnesota by that Infamous Hemi guy who was trying to sell me a Hemi car, sent me a picture of the title but when I drove all the way out there, he didn't have it as he still owed $$ to the owners. On the Dart it was impossible to repair and the way he talked he was just going to rebody it. Illegal as hell.

I know awhile back there was talk of a 68 M code in Ontario, Canada. I don’t think it was ever proven. Kim. @4spdragtop
This one was in Ontario a few years back, 68 GSS that I helped restore and was bought by a well known collector there...

You mean LS23M8B as H would be a Dart 270 and no M code Dart was ever an H. What year was this that Fred had the car? It might be the one I pictured above as it had a complete rear clip grafted on it...

So this dart is a real 68 M code. So then they actually do exist. A Mr. Norm’s GSS. Kim
I know of 14 of them, just added another one to my registry last week, unfortunately it was cut up into a race car decades ago...

Checked out. Vent is up on the housing. Perch 43. 30 spline. Brake drums cast in Canada. A body. Still has the perches. Has 4 link brackets. 489 4.86 spool. Everything 500.00. All came out of a dakota drag car.
4.86 will go in the 69 dart. 3.55 in the dart will go with everything else in a rampage turbo k24, turbo 350 drag and drive project. Thanks for your help.

Fred and Megaparts are local to me. Between the two, they have a incredible amount of mopar stuff and knowledge. And what's a little federal pen time between friends?
