I’m building a 69 440 for my 69 GTS, it’s going to be stealthy with as much aluminum as I can find and some other goodies.

69 block, factory steel crank, Stealth heads, CH4B intake, aluminum water pump and housing, .528/284 MP cam, AVS2 800 CFM. I had bought Comp cromoly rockers years ago but our basement flooded and before I noticed anything 5 of the roller tips got some pitting. The rest are fine. I went to order some new single rockers to replace the damaged ones but Comp had changed from the Pro Magnum to the Ultra Pro Magnum. So I bought a set of the 440Source aluminum roller rockers, spent a few hours getting the side clearances set, thinking I could get away with modifying the baffles in the factory valve covers but the (big and square) rockers hit the sides of the valve cover where they taper. Now I’m back on the cromoly plan.

My question is, can I get 5 Ultra Pro rockers to run with the Pro set or do I need a full set?
 
i'm sure you'd be okay running just 5, but i'm a weirdo that likes everything matchy-matchy so i'd either hunt down what i needed to change everything over.

have you considered valvecover spacers? they might move the cover up just enough to clear.

I have the thick felpro gaskets that space them up a bit but they seem to hit the side of the valve cover as much as the baffles.
 
How bad is the pitting in the five?
 
I would use a steel or s/s rocker over alum.....every time.
 
It’s been a few years but if I remember right you could easily catch your finger nail on them. I’m going to dig them out again tomorrow.
I'm thinkin caveman here.....maybe you could get a belt sander and hold the pitted rollers on it for a few seconds each and see what they look like.
 
If I couldn’t polish out the corrosion on the 5 to my satisfaction with something like a scotchbright pad, I’d just get 5 of the ultra pro comps.
 
One other thought, if the rollers and axles are installed “in house” at Comp, they might be capable of replacing them on your 5 units.
