ok, i have a 78 440 that was rebuilt 2 years ago and not driven much.
i was thinking of adding a cam, intake and carb and dropping it in my duster
it is suppose to be basicaly stock exept they put heads off a 70 or 71 440 charger on it. looking for suggestions on whatparts to add, anyone with a similar set up

Stick in the larger Summit cam, replace the valve springs with one sthat match that cam, stick decent carb on it, and run it. You could swap intakes, or remove the floor jets on the stock one. But I think just the cam and carb will make the big changes.

Remember that the early heads weren't unleaded compatable, so the seats might wear out in 30K-40K miles, and that the cast crank engines need the weighted flex plate to use with a neutrally balanced torque convertor.
What he said on the build. Low compression, so a mild cam, and enjoy the torque!

Curious, what are the casting numbers on both heads, do they end in 906 or 452 for example and check both as they may not be the same #.
