2300-2500 is stock 340 territory. I think they would flash 2800 with slicks and decent gears. If 2000 is stock then yeah. I'd settle for 2300-2500

Precision of New Hampton is a great company to work with.Precision Torque Converters in New Hampton Iowa, is a suggestion. I've bout one and had them reconfigure a 10" 727 unit that needed a little more stall. Both were low 400's, shipped to my door.
Much appreciated. Seems reasonable. I'm gunna see if a local converter shop can take a look at this one and give me their opinion if it's worth saving or if I'm a crybaby. Will see how Hughes feels too.Precision Torque Converters in New Hampton Iowa, is a suggestion. I've bought one and had them reconfigure a 10" 727 unit that needed a little more stall. I had no idea they were that high. Shows my ignorance lol2300-2500 is stock 340 territory. I think they would flash 2800 with slicks and decent gears.
Not very high. Just cracked above high idle.I had no idea they were that high. Shows my ignorance lol
Huges should make it right, but considering what they shipped to you, I’d want my $ back.Much appreciated. Seems reasonable. I'm gunna see if a local converter shop can take a look at this one and give me their opinion if it's worth saving or if I'm a crybaby. Will see how Hughes feels too.
Another thing, they decided to go from a 10" to 11" stator, no explanation given. My guess is they burned through more than just the case when the weld went sideways. The length of the burn through tells me nobody was watching. Man I burn through 1/4" of a weld and I stop! These burn throughs are 1/4 way around the converter.
I had no idea they were that high. Shows my ignorance lol
Just completing my first 904 rebuild, definitely don't want to circulate the junk they left behind straight into the pump. Patience is not my strong point, I appreciate the advice!Huges should make it right, but considering what they shipped to you, I’d want my $ back.
You don’t want that debris going through your transmission. Our local shop said there was some sort of converter flushing mechanism years ago, and they abandoned it. He won’t install a rebuilt transmission without a fresh torque converter.
Patience.
273 etcChrysler had some of the highest stall speeds of the big three. They knew what it took to get a car moving. Just remember, modern converters are not like the "slipping converters" of the past. You can get a very high flash converter and it will drive around town like a stock one. So far, you've not eluded to what your combo is, and maybe you don't want to. But if you did, we could give you a lot better advice.
My cruise is 2500 rpm
My ‘75 Duster turns ~3400 @ 60 mph with 28” tires, 4.11 gears and the stock 904 converter.are you sure about that? with your 3.91's and 24.5" tires that's only like 45mph
also most sellers consider anything aftermarket or off idle a "hi-stall" unit.
Yes, that's about as fast as I go in town. My days of freeway salt flat attempts are over, just not my thing. Slow ride... take it easy... lolare you sure about that? with your 3.91's and 24.5" tires that's only like 45mph

They didn't respond yet. I emailed them this morning, may call them. Professional tone, nothing hostile, but I was firm. Did some research, sounds like their customer service is lacking when problems arise. I'll keep trying until Friday at least. What did Hughes say about it?
I'm pissed off for You,....the kind of thing that gives a company, & hobby/industry an uneeded black eye.Yes, that's about as fast as I go in town. My days of freeway salt flat attempts are over, just not my thing. Slow ride... take it easy... lol

Did I mention their tech never called me once except to bill me, despite saying he would? I had to do all the contacting, still took a month. Guy blamed me for the converter being junk, hey buddy I had no issue with it until you guys fooked it up! And it's a Hughes unit.
I did call FTI and they suggested a 2800 stall, about 9 bills to my door. Also called TCI about their bolt together billet and sounds like may not ever produce it. Want to get something the company stands by, seems like I picked the worst one. FTI uses all new parts except the stator and maybe turbine.
Called three more local places just to see a few more options. Must not cave in just use the dirty goober welded pos they sent me..
Why would you weld on top of the "case saver" that weld is doing nothing

Thanks for the emotional support, fellers. I'll admit I was pissed all weekend
I'll probably do that here soon. He was rude the one time he actually answered the phone instead of the desk guy. They don't even list an email on their website, only found out after they sent an invoice.I'd try calling them so you can actually speak to someone. Ignoring an email is too easy.
Thanks man. It'd be one thing if they had done it for free, this is the most rushed goobered up frankenstein build I've ever seen. She ain't pretty lolI'm pissed off for You,....the kind of thing that gives a company, & hobby/industry an uneeded black eye.
I think the FTI is a 9.5" converter. I don't understand why the diameters are different if the stall is the same. Let's say a 9.5" and a 10.75" etc have the same stall so which one do you choose? Prices don't seem to suggest one is betterChrysler had some of the highest stall speeds of the big three. They knew what it took to get a car moving. That's just manufacturer preference. I will always choose the smaller give a choice of more then one with the flash RPM I am looking for. Smaller is lighter. ;)I think the FTI is a 9.5" converter. What she looks like on the bench, vertical cell phone video
That is very unfortunate, i personally have never heard anything good about that company.
And you sent this thing WHERE again? Hughes?Talked to one of the companies you guys suggested. After looking at the pics, the ding is what stood out to them. And the q-tip residue. They said it looked like it's been dropped and the weld is layed over/flattened, just below the gouge in the pic. I took a closer look and it sure is.
My guess is they f***ed up at least twice and decided to just paint and send it. Good Grief.
I'm giving them another 24 hours then I'll ask Chase what to do.
If I end up stuck with this thing I'll strip all the paint off and see what it's hiding.

I'll bet they'll be calling me pretty soon.Emails are easy to ignore. Try calling them.
Yeah they'd done good by me up till now, but after researching I saw some posts by GTX John and he hates their ***. He was out waaay more money than me.Sorry to read, is this the same Hughes with shitty arrogant dickhead Dave the owner?
You have YouTube channel going, put their name and some adjectives in the title. It will get more Google hits...good for you, bad for them...
Good luck
Yessir. It was even their converter that they badmouthed and acted like they were doing me a huge favor. I could've bought an entire 2nd converter and had this as spare or core. DammitAnd you sent this thing WHERE again? Hughes?
