$517 for a converter refresh?

Here is a fun read on Hughes lol, sounds like he has a LOT of issues lol
The horse is dead
I'll bet they'll be calling me pretty soon.

Yeah they'd done good by me up till now, but after researching I saw some posts by GTX John and he hates their ***. He was out waaay more money than me.

Here's a Youtube short I did after unboxing, don't remember if I posted it here:

Yessir. It was even their converter that they badmouthed and acted like they were doing me a huge favor. I could've bought an entire 2nd converter and had this as spare or core. Dammit

i take it the resolution was not to your satisfaction?
Not really.

They never responded to me.

Looked at their Yelp reviews and sounds like they ghost other people after the sale.

Started a credit dispute for the full amount. Even so, I'm out a perfectly good converter and left with at best, an ugly duckling core.

Not the greatest outcome, but it's just money and time. I'd like to punch them in the nuts.

What did your Hughes torque converter look like vs mine as far as this floating around part I have? This converter was supposedly hardly used. I don't know but things don't add up. I'm not going to use this as is, but it'd be nice to know what's going on with it exactly.

Nope. I had it with the insults and blaming me when things went wrong.

25 year old kid wanna raise his voice to me, I ain't playing that game.

Sorry to hear it. They should have sent you a new converter as soon as the welder blew through the case.

That kind of money would be a project breaker for me.

Who did it?
Specific tech I don't want to say. He was dodgy about answering questions and made sure I knew that they were doing me a huge favor and "eating it" on the costs. Looks like a last minute Friday job I can tell you that.

Pete usually answered the phone and was always cool and professional, kudos to that guy.

I appreciate it. It's a speed bump alright.

Every converter manufacturer I've talked to (at least 8) has said they can't or won't make this converter configuration either. Gunna call a couple more places Monday. Later 904 on an early 273 sure causes some headaches. Only FTI has said no problem, but I'm wondering if they missed that 273 hub part.

This is a minor setback. If I have to yank the crankshaft out to enlarge the pocket that's just what I have to accept.

I really appreciate everyone's input. I hope you're all having a great weekend.

Sorry to read, is this the same Hughes with shitty arrogant dickhead Dave the owner?
You have YouTube channel going, put their name and some adjectives in the title. It will get more Google hits...good for you, bad for them...
Good luck
No. The two companies are not related. Hughes Performance Transmissions is in Phoenix and Hughes Engines is in Illinois.

Even if you nut punched them, they still wouldn't learn. Stupid is as stupid does. What converter do you plan on using now?

Truth! Kind of screwed at the moment. I haven't decided yet. Going to call a few more places on Monday and maybe FTI again.

Anybody got a clutch flite for a 904 sitting around lol
Edit- that part's a joke

Make sure Precision of New Hampton is on your call list. Good folks.

I have seen no less than four 727 clutchlites on Marketplace recently. One had a chevy bell housing.

Already have the pedals installed, don't tempt me! Lol

I'm sure happy with my 8" ATI.
I called them about their bolt together 904, and they said it may never get made due to lack of interest. Dangit. But I'll check with them too, thank you. The small pilot is an immediate no for most of these places.

Another odd thing, guy at Hughes said the pilot was solid metal and could be machined down. So I'm thinking, I'll just get an available converter and cut .25" off it. Then watched a video saying there's a bearing inside there and it might well cut right through the dang thing and make me a big doorstop.

Glad I didn't do that.

Well, got an email from Hughes. Guy blamed me for the paint because I asked for a rush order (which I didn't), said the "grease" inside was intentional (what about the metal in it, and you guys use dry grease?), said other things need to be addressed on their end and some of my concerns are valid, but they'll need to see the converter in person before sending an all-new replacement.

"I was on vacation" he wrote was the reason nobody had replied. That's the second time he used that excuse, the first time he said it was their Mopar guy was out.

In other news, ATI basically hung up on me after saying NO! lol. One lady at Precision is supposed to call me tomorrow, wasn't there. A&A says they'll call me back.

Got some new 6 ton jack stands, my life got an upgrade.

Getting closer to saying F it and doing the crankshaft pilot.
