Picked up what I thought was a 4792 340 center carb at a estate sale along with other misc 2 barrel carbs (cheap)
When I got home and further inspection it turns out this carb is a 4782 (DC mechanical) with the base plate and fuel bowl swapped with the 4792/91 pieces.
Going to tear it down to ID internal parts
Now my question Can this carb be used with Vac Sec end carbs as is or ?
Only issue I see is the bowl vent linkage arm is misaligned
Plan on storing the carb for now
I do have a 6 pack set up to use on my 340 dart 4sp 391sg in the future
Any advise/thoughts?
Thanks

Should work fine, what is the # on the metering block ?

Yes it will work fine. Just set it up as the factory did for a six pack and tune from there.

Metering block should be a 6610, It may work just fine, you will just have to try it.

@brian6pac
Metering plate is a 6625
From your pic looks like I have a different hold down plate for the bowl vent rod
I will have to do a tear down then research any numbers I find
Thanks

I didn't even see that, your right the vent lever is for a earlier carb with a rubber cap.
Someone just bent it up to work.
I would try the metering block, If it doesn't work then try to find the right one.

4782 didn't have that bowl it had a side pivot float and that vent lever and hold down is for that bowl.

That base plate is a 4782 base but someone changed the shaft to a 4791/2.

Thanks again
The info you listed above would have taken me 1-2 hours to research
I got a good starting point now
There’s very little info on the mechanical DC carbs out there
Other posts on here and FBBO have some good info and links for the oem carbs 340 & 440

The 4782 does not have the vacuum port to hook the vacuum hose to that goes to the vacuum pods on the outer carbs.
Kind of hard to see, it is behind the choke pulloff.

the metering block i have #6625 has that vac port you indicated, also below that is a brass adjustment screw which is on the other side also
I'm leaning towards the base plate, metering block, fuel bowl was installed on a 4782 body Chicago carb has exploded views on their website, will print them out so I will know what parts I'm talking about (thanks 72Dart6pack) then will call Al @ chicago carb
Thanks to both of you

Here you can see the port for the end carbs, It's in the main body not the metering block.
