Does anyone have photos and part numbers for what I am missing to complete the choke mechanism on a 273 '65 Formula S AFB part #3854S? Thank you. Edit: I am using a factory 1966 intake manifold if that makes any difference (to match the 318 block/cylinder heads).

Update:
I found some photos and part number (2468738) on another thread. It did not look at first that there would be room for a choke in that tiny space. Thank you.

At that price I think I will continue to prime the carb with a squirt of gasoline when cold starting. Edit: according to other forum members the choke in the photo add is incorrect because the cover plate is not perfectly flat.

Huh, that dirty Commando motor looks awfully familiar. Did I take those photos? Yeah, I had to pay through the nose for my choke thermostat — but nothing like that much. It might have been $50-60. But it starts right up, in all conditions. I am kind of a stickler for every original function must be working. I hate having to make excuses for my car... "oh, the turn signals don't cancel" or "the dome light doesn't work"...

Yes same as a 67 GTX choke. They are not cheap, but they just work so nice. Easy cold starts and fast idle.

1967 c-body low performance engines all had Holley carbs from factory, dofferent choke. The 67 440 HP B and C bodies use the same chokes as a 273 4bbl.

That won't work. The top plate has to be flat.
is the ebay ad incorrect? It wouldn't be the first time...and the ad Gibbons posted. They are all claiming the pictured ones are for his application. Also...I'm not questioning anyone's knowledge here. I'm at work and can't look at any of mine.

The ebay add is incorrect. They are pulling the number off the round rod cover? Look at the one in the link I posted. On a 273 the choke well is flush with the carb mounting pad, so the top plate must be flat. That one looks like it is for earlier engines, 318? 361?, 383? I'll try to get the right numbers for the 273 AFBs.

It may also work to buy a 68 - 71 AVS choke and replace the rod. I checked last night, and that will not work, they changed how the rod was attached.

Or when all else fails, you can convert to manual choke or integral choke via a Corvette AFB 64-67?

Edelbrock Manual Choke Kit - Allstate Carburetor
This will not work either as it is for a large opening carb, 68 and up.
