Hi all,

I've just stripped my 65 Formula S, getting it ready for paint.

Originally.....it's a Ruby Red car, with red interior. Trouble is I'm not sold on the standard Ruby red. In saying that, I'm interested in opinions of various other reds that might suit the red interior.
Recently at a local car show there was a red 66 with a more burgundy type of red and it looked pretty good. I've been trying to see good pictures of cars with Ruby Red Poly, Medium Ruby Red.....even an old Mustang color - Candyapple Red in solid. I'm just not certain what to use with the red interior, but would like to keep it red.

I'm after suggestions or even pictures.

Attached is the car I saw at the show recently.......and I'm not sure if I need to add this, but the picture was taken by Hunter Media. They photograph all the cars at the show....about a thousand of them. www.chryslersonthemurray.com

Thanks,

Peter

I'm in the same situation. I have a Ruby Red 1965 Dart GT (black interior). Thinking of using this: Candy Pearl Brandywine over Black Base Complete Gallon Kit or, I've seen some newer Fords in a similar color that I like. I just have to figure out what color it is. I'll be following this!

To make things worse, I thought I had a great red colour picked, and tried it on the engine bay. Paint was nice and shiny, but simply didn't go with the red interior trim I bought.
I'll probably end up just doing Ruby Red again..... but it doesn't quite do it for me.

The interior on my '65 Cuda was originally light blue. I changed it to black over the years. It could probably go with any exterior color now. Just a thought...

By the way, I am also looking for a source for 1965 Barracuda rechromed radio bezels. I have the repro dash cluster that looks really nice but it does leave me looking at the radio bezel.

Regarding radio bezels…..there must be someone. To be honest, I’m pretty confident there’s a couple of places here in Australia that could do them, but I’m surprised if it’s not already a thing.

I'd stick with the ruby red or some variant. I love darker reds.

Where I am it's actually hard getting a paint code for Ruby Red. Each manufacturer has it's own colours and cross referencing isn't that easy.
I've never seen Ruby Red in the flesh, but I'm going to try and see if someone can somehow make it up.

Here is my 66 with the original red. I did change the interior to black carpet and white upholstery. Too much red.

I love maroon (not burgandy), just me. Not red too much.
But, once I had a 68 GTX silver exterior, and the interior seats were red/maroon, very striking. OEM. Pretty uncommon combo.
Be warned anyone , silver is a thin paint and takes numerous coats.

Here's my red 66. Really old picture. I still have it but let's just say it has aged.
