i know its been talked to death but damn.....all ready to go, and even the 165/80/13 hit to the point of cant drive it....even relocating the problem tubs will only clear the 13''tires i want to go with 14'' up front....alot easier with a gasser axle...but not wanting to go that way. guess looking into custom headers .....

Tire size.com says there is such a,thing as 165/55r x14 that is 21 1/8 tall, and 165/50r x 15, at 21 1/2 tall. Amazon shows several brands of each, around $50-$60 each. Each should be a couple inches shorter than your 80s aspect 13s. Might get you the room you need, cheaper than a thousand dollar set of custom headers.

how tall are the ones i have?

how wide of a rim for the 14'' is that a stock steal wheel?
A 165, is a 165, is a 165. That is the measurement of the section width on a spec rim. Its just that a shorter aspect ratio, 55 compared to an 80 say, means a shorter tire. 165mm is 6.5 inches, i think you could put that on a four to six inch rim. Your rim backspace will probably determine if it will work or not.

I used a 23 x 5.0-15 goodyear frontrunner on a 15x4 centerline prostock on my cortina. Strangely, centerline offered two different backspace on the 15x4 prostock. It is a pro tree car, and it has a tiny wheel well.
My opel has fenderwell headers, but a firestone 165 r x 15 (80) fits on a 15x4 rocket front.
My 62 has one header tube thru the wheelwell, and a 235/70x15 rubs on one side, 165 80 x15 on 15x3 1/2 fits fine.

what headers on your 62?

ANCIENT hooker adjustables, 2", with the rear tube 7&8 thru the wheelwell. I bought them at the Orange county raceway swapmeet. OCIR has been closed for more than thirty years. No complaints about hooker quality.
I did have to repair a tube, and i did get them coated, and i "adjusted" the angle that the collectors hung at (floorjack, and torch).lol
The pic is the driver side tire rub. No rub on the pass side.

nice...did the pass side fit between the head and shock tower...only two in, of space on mine

Perhaps i should have made it clear before, my 62 is a b-body. Lots more room than a early a-body! Sorry.
You are fighting putting a big motor in a small space. It can be done, but you have to be willing to move, or remove, metal. Neither of my little cars has a firewall anywhere near where it originally was, lol.
