Hey all, I purchased a 67 barracuda that has some missing parts. I need a column. I am going to look at a column owned by a gentleman who isn't sure of the year.
I know what the early a columns look like and what the 70 and up look like.
Is there any difference I need to know between 67-69? I have heard 67 is a unique year.
And it is a manual steering, floor shift if that makes any difference.
    Thanks for listening guys.

Corey, I have a 67 floor shift column at home if you want pics.
**edit** I believe 67 column is "1 year only" but no reason why you couldnt use a 68/9 as well.

Heres a 67 column. Sorry not the greatest pics. I can take more of specific areas if need be.

Don’t quote me on this but sometime around 67 the neutral safety or back up switch was moved to the column. This was before they were combined together on the transmission. Of course no NSS with manual transmissions.

Main difference to look for- is your car a floor shift (4-sp or auto) or a column shift? Is it P/S or manual steering ( different length).

tube diameter is larger on a 67 IIRC. So the flange on the floor is different. I havent finished mine but I think that will make the lower bearing different too. Maybe someone can confirm or deny this info.

As stated earlier. It’s a manual trans, manual steering, floor shift car. So maybe it doesn’t matter? It’s not a resto, just gonna be a driver.
I’d like it to look correct of course.
Thanks for the responses so far guys. I really appreciate it!

67, the inner shaft tube is a different diameter, and the lower plastic bearing is a different piece of garbage, (from 1 source only, and you have to email them, pay big $).
You can get the lower steel ball bearing 'kit' to rebuild that, which is ridiculous, who wants to rebuild a bearing instead of buying one.
And don't believe the hype, finding a bearing to replace the plastic/steel lower bearing is not possible, at least one that fits correctly.

Finding a manual shift column is another task in itself.

In my case, the spent lower bearing destroyed the lower inner column, and a replacement inner column was half the price of a completely rebuilt 68 column from Norm's.
I went with Norm's and it is perfect.
Flange is the same, 67 to 68 at least.
