Bought the car off Ebay & made a trip last Saturday Mar 21st from Austin, AR to Killeen, TX to pick it up. Made it back Sunday morning & immediately did an inventory to saw what I had & what was needed. Got alot of extra's that I wasn't expecting including some NOS parts. Today went by a friends house to look at a 360 long block that he offered to me for free! So now I will get to build a motor like I want. Will get it off the trailer & onto jack stands in a week or so to start the disassembly process. Looking forward to this project & the sharing of info this site has to offer!

Picked up the 360 yesterday! Hoping Mother Nature will allow me to get the grease scraped off today so I can get a good pic of the block & head numbers. Also hope to remove the heads to get an idea of what the bore looks like. Pics to follow

Get some good before pictures posted so we can see what you're working with.

Worked on getting the heads off but the portable compressor isn't big enough so will back the trailer (the motor is sitting on it) into the garage where the big compressor lives. Got some pics of the block, will try for some on the heads tomorrow

Doing some more research it seems it's a 89 so it has roller tappets. Was this a good block?

Havent ever messed w/ a s block mopar , but from what I`ve read "and i did ask'', thats the one I would start with.

Got the heads off today! The cylinders look to be in excellent condition along the rods! Will still take to the machine shop to be disassembled/cleaned/checked for tolerances.

Took the heads to checked out & found out they are both cracked at each end, so now the search begins for replacements! Do have a line on a set of 596 bare heads, will they work on the 89-91 Pre-Magnum LA blocks?

BE TRICKFLOWS FOR ME ----------

After doing some looking have decided to just get some reman heads from the local parts house. Those will fit my needs & will fit correctly on what I have. Also will start looking for a 8 3/4 setup to much better handle the torque from the 360.

Was a nice morning before the rain got here (again) so did some more sanding.

Latest update! After not being able to find any reman heads to fit the 89-91 timeframe I ended up going with some Magnum heads, they arrived today! Tomorrow will be tearing down the short block to see what kind of shape it is actually in, hoping for good results! transmission is being rebuilt, hoping to get it back shortly. Found a 8.75 rear end & lucked out that it has a 3.23 posi unit in it. Looking at cam choices to find one that will meet my desires.

Started on the rear end swap today. Replaced the springs with a 6 leaf setup from ESPO. Got the housing on and almost tightened up but one of the u-bolt nuts stripped. Tomorrow is fix that, put the third member, axles & brakes on then on to the next part. The front shot was just for grins!

Sold my Goldwing so the cuda gets to reside in the garage. Bought a set of dollies to move into work position. Yesterday finished up the rear suspension and did more paint removal. Found out the passenger had been damaged as had up to 1/4" bondo on it.
