I sold the 360 out of my 67 barracuda. A friend of mine gave me a 67 383 block. I took the block the machine shop the other week to have it checked out & bored 30. The 440 source stroker showed up the other day & now i have get the pistons to the machine shop. I just ordered a pair of schumacher headers & called back to 440 source to order the engine mounts. Ive beed slowly gathering parts because all i have is a block. I think im going with the 440 source stealth heads. I need a bolt kit, intake, rockers & shafts, bellhousing, flywheel, MSD ignition, carb & i think thats it. Im sure i forgot something lol but im excited. This will be my first big block A body O & i cleaned up the engine bay & painted it. I rerouted the engine bay wires through the lt wheel well to give it a cleaner look. I will post some pictures later
 
You might want to consider spending some money on getting the heads CNC'd, and talk with Dwayne Porter about cam selection. There's a significant amount of power and efficiency to be had when both are right.

You are a lucky guy.. i dropped my block off 2 months ago.. called him yesterday and i might get it back by xmas... and paying top dollar.. my goal is to have the motor done by spring... my original goal was this spring..

Its all in my engine builders hands. He builds mopar drag engines & he is good.

Mine might not be done by spring. But thats ok
 

Spend the money on Trick Flow heads, getting the 440 source up to spec with porting and valve job would be far less cost effective.

the 440 source stealth heads are still going to be better than taking a pair of stock heads and getting work done to them
 
I have a bored 383 w/ 440 Source heads Schumacher headers, no stroker kit, but I went above and beyond on top.
4 speed too.

For the record, this engine began with dual 390 Holley carbs on the tr, then an RPM intake with a single 750 dp, then dual 600 Holley carbs on the tr, now efi.

The single 750 was snappy-er at go than the dual 390s, the 600s was equivalent if not better as it pulled more above 3k.

The efi is a different animal, zero hesitation, timing control, set it and forget it.
Those tbs are collassal.

All throughout the tunnel ram has been 100% streetable, drivable in all scenarios, drive it all the time.

It might just be largely impart to the Weiand tr, they are proven.

I did have another Weiand tr and noticed that the one on this car had been cleaned up and ported, and I cleaned it up a little more to match the carbs/tbs, top to bottom, and aluminum heads.

I guess the point is don't be afraid of tunnel rams, they're not just for show. Extremely streetable and just perform like no other.

agreed, the long runners are just a 'stood up' version of intakes like the gm tpi which was very torquey/streetable. long runners have always been good for torque, i don't understand why folks insist they're no good below 3000rpm. they just need to be set up properly is all.
