I wanted a way to document my progress and hopefully utilize the vast pools of experience and knowledge here on FABO with my build. I've been a lurker for the most of my tenure here. I figured tossing up a project post thread would be a good start. Here's my information dump.

I purchased this car last year after doing some searching. I had a model 68 Barracuda as a teen that I used for painting practice in my autobody class. I've always loved them and now I finally own one. I have also owned a 66 and 69 but life events forced me to sell them both. Not happening with this one though. It's staying put.

The plan is to get it moving. I want to get it to Carlisle one day just to be part of the experience. I'm not shooting for perfection because that's not realistic. It'll be good enough for me when I can enjoy it (safely). I'd love to run it down a track against my dad. He's always wrenched on cars, trucks, etc. and rebuilt quite a few vehicles. He's working on a 56 210 post Chevy. It's definitely something I inherited and treasure. I hope that I can share the same with my own boys later in life. But I digress.

Here is the information I've pulled from the car up to this point:

I'm looking forward to posting about my progress and being able to lean on the awesome community here when I run into something I'm not familiar with. Thanks for taking the time to read my post! I posted pictures from where I picked it up. It was my first time renting a U-Haul Truck and car hauler as well as my first time towing anything. It was a 4-hour drive from St. Louis back home. I'm not sure if the previous owner is on the forum or not but he runs his own auto-body business and runs drags in a semi-pro format from what I remember. Great guy!

Didn't take long to get to my first question: What vendor do you recommend for weatherstrip? I am having the new front windshield installed and I need to pick up a new weatherstrip ahead of time. I see that classic and ADM sell them but I've also read on the forum that I need to be sure I'm getting it from a reputable vendor so that it fits correctly.

I think mine came from Classic and don’t remember issues….with the gasket anyway! lol. I used a little silicone in the corners for extra protection. 8 years later no issues. Good luck.

Went ahead and ordered a gasket from Layson's as I needed a couple body panels as well. I have basically no experience welding and my autobody class in high school was about 25 years ago so this should be interesting.

I have a good number of pictures that I can dump but I was unsure what the best way to go about it is. I have them all in an album on Google Photos at the moment so I could share a link to that. Or do most members prefer them attached here in the thread? Once I get some feedback, I'll get those posted.

Just attach them here. There is a rather large button at the bottom of where you post that says "Attach Photos". There is a size limit. If you can, keep them around 120 to 150 dpi and around 6" wide. They load quickly and you can get several loaded per post. I typically load 100 dpi at 5" wide, then save them as a .png file.

Photo dump #1: Exterior - Taking pictures as I begin to disassemble things.

I'm looking forward to the process. It's mostly relaxing outside of the stubborn rusted in place bolt. Nothing some penetrating spray or heat can't resolve though!

That's a killer look! I appreciate you sharing this. I don't think I'll be done quite as quick as you either. Short attention span
