hello folks, i am restoring my 68 barracuda.Now i have 215/70/14 on my Rally wheels.Will 235/60/14 or 245/60/14 work or is it too big. I put new leafs on the back and my tires look very small now. Hate to buy the tires and they don't fit.What sizes are you running on your 68?

I have a 69 notchback. I have 225/70- 14 on rally wheels. Front is just fine. Rear rubs the inside wheelhouse around extreme bump corners. Hope this helps some.

My 68 Barracuda is running P215 60 R14 on the front, I do sometimes run a set of P225 60 R14 with no problems, on the rear I'm running P245 60 R14 on 8 inch wide rims.

My 67 notch has 235/60/15 front 6 inch crager ss
255/60/15 rear no problems with clearance. 7 inch crager ss

A pair of 149mph rated 215/60R-15's up front & a pair of 189 mph rated 275/60-15's on the rear. The car handles and hooks up very well with no rubbing at all.

You guys need to put in your back spacing specs in on the rims, front and rear of ya got them.

Getting ready to install 255/65/15 on 15x8 on the rear of the 69 FB barracuda 5.5" BS on a 1" adapter (4 to 4.5 lug) anticipating 1.5"+/- clearance between the tire and leaf and 1"+/- at fender. height is not an issue, I have air shocks at 25psi and that leaves plenty of wheel well. I might drop the shock pressure down a few pound s after install.

My 67 notch has 235/60/15 front 6 inch crager ss
255/60/15 rear no problems with clearance. 7 inch crager ss

Glad to hear the 235/60/15's are fitting without rub on the front of your '67 Notch, that's what i'm wanting to go with.

The 14 inch Rally Wheels are 5.5s.That works out to about 140mm.using the 70% rule;
140/.70 =200mm= the optimum size of tire to fit on that rim. At 215 you are already past the optimum, by 7.5%.
A 235 needs a 6.5inch rim, which rounds to 7, cuz just try to find a 6.5 sbp,14incher.
To put a 235 on a 5.5 will tend to pull the outside edges of the tire up,off the pavement, unless you run a very low pressure. This is not a good idea. #1) at standard pressure,you will burn the center off the tire. #2) at reduced pressure, your car will handle like a barge in the corners.
I have run a 235/60-14 on a 7 inch rims at 29psi, on the front of my 68 FormulaS. The tires had a long life, and it handled reasonably well.
The rear can accept;
275s on 8 inchers,without mods.
295/50s on 10 inchers(24psi) without much trouble. Just careful fitment.
325/50-15s will also fit on 10 inchers, with the springs moved in 3/4 inch, and careful centering.

I have a 69 Barracuda Fastback with 235-60-14s on 6" SBP Cragars. They fit fine.

Thanks for the specs and everyone's help . These rally rims was on this car when i bought it 35 yrs ago. These are large bolt pattern rims i haven't taken the rubber off the wheel to measure but since its a large bolt pattern are the still 5.5 in wide. Attached is a picture on how much clearance i have. Car is being sent off for complete body and paint next week and trying to get my tire situation straightened out . Thanks

A general rule of thumb is to keep the tread width within 1/2" of the rim width. I believe 14" BBP Rallyes came in 5-1/2" and 6" rim widths. The SBP optional rims (Formula S and Rallye) were 5-1/2". 225-70 X 14 would be the absolute limit for 5-1/2" rims. For many years, Ford Rangers used that size tire which is probably why they are still around.

If you truly have BBP all the way around, that opens it up for MANY more options than having SBP. If you are in love with Mopar Rallyes, you can get 15 X 7 in both small and big bolt patterns. (Summit Racing is one source) The standard back spacing for Mopar 15 x 7 wheels is 4-1/4" and those will fit without issues except......if you go too wide or too tall for the front tires, they will hit the wheel lip.

In my opinion, 255-60 x 15 on the rear of second gen Barracudas looks the best.

...on the Cragars?

Basically, none of this info is useful without backspace numbers.

I just measured out how a 235/60-14 would fit on the front of my 67 Barracuda 'vert, based on a 14 x 7 Torquethrust with 3.5" backspace, and the answer is ... not a chance. I'm guessing the Cragars must be 4 or 4.5.

235 is probably wider than recommended for 6" rims. When I looked it up, it said rim width = 6.5 to 8.5".

I have a 69 Barracuda Fastback with 235-60-14s on 6" SBP Cragars. They fit fine.

Man those rallys in post 11 look like sbps. The bbps had different hats. I hesitate to question you, but how did you measure those to be 4.5 inch bolt circle?

Front tire 15x7 4.25 bc. 225/60/15. Cut fender a little for clearance.

4 1/2 is LBP correct?

I've got;

Front: p215/60r14
Rear: p235/60r14

I think it sits a little low in the rear, but I am pretty sure I want new springs and shocks, and here's what it looks like...

225/70/14 should be fine on those rally's correct? or stay with the 215/70/14? not looking to buy new rims at this time.
