I have a 05-29-69 340 block that is standard bore, last six digits are 170671. This would be available to person who has the car it belongs with. 20180827_180751.jpg 20180827_180742.jpg

That would be for a 1970 A-Body for sure.

The VIN photo is a bit blurry, does it start 0B or 0R?

0B 170671 is a new number to me but it would have been in a Challenger originally, so there are only two possible VINs depending on hard top or convertible.

    JH23H0B170671 or JH27H0B170671

Thanks Alaskan_TA. What would be best way to search for my correct 69 Swinger block, last 6 are 370668?

I guess I will have to find an E body site to advertise the block I have.

Same answer for both questions actually.

The lost & found engine & transmission section at Lost & Found, Clubs, Businesses, Jobs | Moparts Forums has had over 1.5 million views so far, people do check it.

You can list this 340 there & mention that you are looking for yours also.

Mention the full VIN of the car as well as how it would appear on the engine, that way if anyone finds something & 'googles' the VIN, it will lead to your thread.

      Best of luck!

I've been looking for the block for my 69 GTS convertible since 1995 with no luck. LS27P9B306021 was probably made into a Kia...

They stopped using full VINs at some point, so your block may have read 9B 306021

Well I figured it was a full VIN since I have two blocks that are very close to the VIN and that have full VIN's on them. One is just before mine and one just after.

The cars were not built in VIN order though.

I have seen some with partial VINs lower than yours, so you may want to expand your search parameters - unless........

If you have the original transmission with a full or partial VIN, your missing block would match whatever it shows.

They did not use the letter O so that is a 0 (zero)

It hits in a narrow window that I do not have any data for yet, could be Challenger or Duster 340.

Any chance it's a TA block?

        915 castings can be J, O, U or Z.

All have 360 cast into the rocker area, but some were milled for the larger valves and some were milled for the offset T/A intake push rods, so you would have to look to be sure.

But for the block itself, what is the casting number on the drivers side?
