7 1/4 Oil Seals Installation

So a while back I installed new seals and it looks like I screwed up the one on the passenger side as it left an wonderful oil and brake dust mess. So my question is should I drive it in dry or grease it or what?

I use a thin layer of RTV on the outside of the seal and once it's home smear a dab of grease on the seal lip before sliding the axle home. Be careful not to slice the seal with the axle splines or you have it all to do over...

If oil in this drum is why you replaced the seal in the first place, you likely have a bearing or axle problem there.
