I had a rear DS wheel lock up, after removing the drum, (a 9 inch drum) I found this broken spring.

I posted over in the wanted section for a spring, BlackHatGuy came through and sent me some hardware of of a 7 1/4 his car had just broken. Here's a pic of the spring he sent, the good spring from the opposite side of My car, and the broken spring I need to replace, NAPA ordered the kit, but when it came in the parts were not correct.

I did try the spring BHG sent, but just by the way it's made, the overall length and the length of the coils it looks like it would interfere with the brake adjuster.
Does anyone know why there's a difference, venture a guess as how to fix it, or possibly have a spring I can buy?

Is it shaped like the two at the top in the picture? The broken one was on the DS, the other one from the PS looks exactly the same (to Me)

So, adj wheel to the rear and hook end to the front, that should clear, right? and the offsets on the non hook end are for the star wheel clearance, right?

small hook to the shoe and large to the adjuster?

Naw, can't be right, this spring is used to put tension on the shoes to hold the bottom of the shoes in, I guess, gotta have something putting tension on them.
Only I could get a 1 of 1 and it be the brakes ! :)

I just left the drums off so I could move it, be awhile before it's on the road, I've googled, Youtubed, and Ebayed it, came up with nothing.

I'll post this here for you. I tried sending this to you in our conversation but the site won't let me do pictures there.

This is a diagram of the 9 inch Dodge Dakota brakes, lower spring and adjuster set up look familiar?

Well, now that we know what you're working with, you got two choices. those things I sent you can be used to restore it back to its original configuration, or you can go get another brake hardware kit for the Dakota to keep it as it is now. Honestly, not altogether too certain that the Dakota adjuster is not a better design...
