All 340 (hipo or not) got the 8.75 rear till 72 and in its final year 73 it got the 8.25 rear.

wow thats just wild cause most of the 65 Darts, cudas that had a 273 commando had a dam.. 7 1/4 diff in them at least all the ones I have seen anyways

Is the 340 original to the car? If not it may have come with a /6 and the 7 1/4.

I have a 74 a-body w/7 1/4 diff, and was curious what the differences (length), if any are the axle shafts relative to 7 1/4 '65 barracuda. I'm doing the disc brake conversion & need to follow suite w/5 on 4 1/2 in the rear..I see where axle assembly is different in width and was curious if one could get by with just pulling axles w/back plates, ect. The '65 has a 2:94 and donar car has 2:50 on differential tag.
