Hi all, I have an Eddy 1405 installed on our 70 340. I have a bunch of rod, jet and spring combos to tune(getting there).
I also have an oem Carter 4934S for a 70 340 that requires a teardown. I have kit for this. Now the Carter is complete, but I only have the 1 set of rods(3 step) for it.
Is the 1405 "capable" so to speak? Its currently installed and I am currently trying to fine tune, but then thought maybe the Carter would be best?
Thoughts?
Thanks
Steve

the eddy is a little small, but if you're not going for upper RPM power it'll be fine.

i think the AVS is the better carb for the application-- of the two you have.

or sell both and buy a AVS 2 650 and call it done!

I also have 273 on stand for a future build hopefully, so the 1405 seemed like a good choice for versatility.
1405 was on the 273, then in went 340(70, .030 over and 20-247-4 comp cams).
Cam in the current drive train setup(323 SG and stock 904 TC)is not ideal, but its staying put and next on list is a slight upgrade in TC.
I bought the Carter a while back for this 340, but lack of rods put there has me wondering.
Then again, Eddy rods can be used in the Carter?
Thanks!

The 4934 is an exc carb, used many of them. If you look at the discharge tubes in the sec bores, you will see holes along the length of the tubes, & also in the bullet shaped ends. Size & position vary. This tells you that the carb was dialled in for a very specific calibration, & using it with different engine parts [ cam, intake etc ], it may not work as well.

Since you have both carbs, I would try both. I think you will like Edel better....
The 4934 should have a 098 sec jet. I would go up one size, to 101. You can use the Edel jets for that.
