Guys any help with this would be appreciated, with the AC it looks like a dogs breakfast in there. Does the whole box have to come out? any step by step (without shooting yourself in the head half way through)?

Yes, the whole box has to come out.
Obviously you have to take any under hood hoses off first.
Then unbolt the blower motor under the hood.
Take the J hook off the inside of the passenger side vent box door if it has one.
Start lowering the box down while disconnecting control cables and electrical connections.
Remove the clips that hold the two halves together.

From there it's pretty obvious what to do.

("Dogs breakfast" before or after he ate it?)
I am assuming you meant after. :D

The only real difference is the AC hoses and core inside the box.
A few differences in the controls wires and cables, but still basically the same.

I don't know if the factory service manual for this model is a free download ( try mymopar.com ) but I do know those are the most complete sources for step by step procedures.

The a/c box is seperate from the heater box and is held together with a bolt. The box bolts to the firewall from outside

Yes,but you need to take the bolt out that bolts them together. It's not too bad if you loosen the dash frame at the sides and at the column and remove the glovebox liner.
