Happy New Year everyone. It is an H code 340/727 car that I’m looking to get up and running again. Little history of the car. I bought the car when I was 14 (I’m 50 now) to do as a project with my uncle for $250. He is an old school hot rod guy from the 60’s with plenty of knowledge. The car had no motor or tranny and the interior was stripped. Body was in primer but the original color was that gold metallic. It was set up with a big block k frame and the fender wells were cut out for headers (probably raced). I put a 340 in it from another 71demon that I got for $400 and paired it with a rebuilt 727 with a shift kit. My uncle and I did everything on the car including body work, paint, interior etc. it was a healthy backyard restoration. Certainly not a show car but an awesome first car when I got my drivers license. I drove it for two years then yanked the motor to rebuild it. Noticed a few tolerance issues when I was putting the engine back together but needed it back on the road at that time. Drove it for 4-6 months then parked it. 30 years later here we are. Plan is to freshen up the motor. Probably put a thermoquad back on it and go back to headers. The afb is sitting on the factory spread bore manifold with an adapter plate. I’m also thinking a four speed conversion and front disk brake conversion. I’ll probably freshen up the whole front and rear suspension while I’m at it. I’m looking forward to getting started in the spring and this forum already has been a big help with information. I’ll get some better pictures in the spring when I can pull it out. Found this Polaroid picture from around 92. I’m the guy on the left, my buddy Chris is on the right.

Man, we’ve come a long way from the days of $250 for an A-body in any condition. Cool you have some great history with it.

Welcome to FABO from NY!

Welcome from WI. I have a soft spot for Demons, especially yellow 1971s.

Welcome to FABO.......Great story, and glad you kept it all these years. I bought my avitar Demon in 1979 for $50 bucks and had it on the road for $200 all in.

Very cool- my first mopar experience was my friends 72 340 demon....nearly 40 years later I'm still hooked.

Awesome that you held onto the car for so long.

Yup, $250 was what a shell was when I was a teen. I bought a 1972 Demon 340 4 speed that ran excellent, but had rust in the quarters, trunk and front floors (everything else was super solid) for $700 in about 1984. I bought a 1972 Charger Rallye 440 Auto that looked decent, had minor rust and ran okay in about 1985 also for $700. I also bought two complete 1971 Road Runners, both 383 auto cars that were non-running for $300 for both of them, $150 each LOL, also around 1985-1986...
