Yeah thats the factory color, in the door jambs it has the leftover black striping not sure if that was factory for the 318 car or not but was on there at one point, gonna go orange and black stripes me thinks :D

I have a /6 car in that same color. It is bare bones as can be. 225/3 speed column shift, rubber floor mat, no drip rail moldings and hubcaps (redlines)..

Cool project.

Isn't that a 71 front end?

Yep, '71 Grille/Bumper.

I wonder if MoparDemon got the "year" off the title? I know some states will title a vehicle for the year it was sold. Like if that '71 stayed on the lot until 1972, it would be titled as a '72 Demon instead.

Or it could be a mid-year car, right as they were changing over to the '72 Front Clip style demons. I've seen a few oddball vehicles like that before. I had an '86 Ram 50 that was built in August and it was a "1st Generation" body style, and i had an '86 Ram 50 that was built in July but it was a "2nd Generation" body style (mid '86 they changed over to the '87 / 2nd gen body. But my 1st gen was 1 month newer than the 2nd gen)

I've also seen the same thing happen on A-Bodies too.

EDIT :

Or it could have been wrecked and the parts were replaced, anything is possible when a car is almost 40 years old

The car is a 72 and yes it is a 71 grill, i put the grill and stickers which are 71 also(72 came with metal emblems) on purpose that is the way i want it :D..you can tell it is a 72 also by the side marker lights on 72 they stick out and on 71 they are flush to the fender with chrome trim.

That is what it is about, do it your way. Dang I quoted a Burger King commercial.

Done some more work this weekend..lots of chiseling undercoat and ginding! there is rot at the top of the inners but have another front clip to take what i need off of it :D

There was one suspect spot on the driver quarter..was not sure what to expect but ground it down and found lots and lots of filler! there were some dents and its pretty wavy so i think i might need a new quarter for this side.

Yeah i should show you some closer pics..i probly could salvage it but im gonna spend hours straightening it out with filler again..dont think i need to use nearly as much as the previous person who tried to fix it but still measured up against the time to cut and weld a new one..suggestions??

Have you got a Stud welding gun? If so you can pull out the dents

Yeah sorry should have stated that those dents have been pulled out with that tool many times...you can see where they did it and that is why its wavy, just dont know if its worth my time to fill it again (with a thin coat mind you) or just put a quarter on cause it looks like a ripple chip right on a body line.

WOW. It does sound like new panels. Check out the restoration threads. I know you don't want to cut on a body line there are members who has done it just have to ask in the right forums.

Much easier and way faster to hang a new one. That's IF your budget allows it.
