Good evening A Body friends,
Any suggestions for where I can locate a new or like new chrome trim piece for the leading edge of a 72 Demon hood?
I couldn't fiind where on the wesite to post a "Wanted" ad. I saw lots of "for sales"

Its stainless, not chrome. Unless yours is bent badly they can usually be buffed out to new condition. I dont believe its reproduced so you would have to find an original one.
Click the classifieds tab at the top of the page then click the "cars and mopar parts wanted" tab.

Hard to find nice ones, but they came as optional trim on Darts and Demons from 1970 to 1972, including many 4 door Dart Customs, so that might help your search. To my knowledge no one repops them. Even harder to find are nice side pieces that go around the fender edges on 70-71 cars. Somebody reproduces the shallower 1972 versions, so you are in luck there!

Put the highest price you'll pay in the want ads. I am sure one will pop up quicker then you imagine. What is a mint piece worth? That is the question that should be asked in return. If you want something make an offer that would make someone like me sell you that item. I always think what will it cost me in time and money to replace items I have sold.

I sold a common part thinking I would help the person and I can always find another one down the road. Over 8 years and had to buy a car for the part I sold . Now I try to keep 2 or 3 of everything for my cars.

I have 4 mint hood chromes and offered one to a member looking for an NOS. He held fast for an NOS part. Looking back I am glad It didn't sell at the asking price.

You have to pay up to buy nice cars to get nice parts. The cars today are not cheap but I save every piece

Those are, as mentioned, stainless.
And because of that, it's actually really easy to roll dents and dings out of them. There was an article in MA a few years back about a guy that did it. If you message Rick he probably has contact info for the guy if you don't want to tackle it yourself.

If you're going to do it yourself, start at the edge of the dent and work inwards to kind of roll it back out. If you push in the middle, you get a dent inside a dent.
Looking for the MA article and found this. I miss Waggin.

Thanks for responding. I've tried a couple times in past years without any luck either. Mine has a couple of dents that I might ask a dent removal company that has impressed me a few times with their ability to remove dents and I defy you to find where they were. I just wanted to be sure there wasn't any easy new replacement solution. Happy motoring!!!

I did spend some time going through several of the pages on that forum without any luck running across trim pieces. Because it is a rare piece and most are well aged if original, I'm probably better off restoring mine. Thanks for responding though and happy motoring.

I dont think its a rare piece, I have a half dozen of them and im sure many others do too. Post a wanted ad, im sure you will find one.

Thanks, I'll do that. I do want it to be like new except maybe for polishing. My car has less than 40K original miles. The one that is on there has a couple of dents. One that looks like it was prick punched. Other than that it's in pretty good shape. I appreciate you responding.

At this time I believe I have worked out the purchase of a replacement trim piece with a fellow member. I thank all for offering their advice, comments, and help. Mopar or No Car.
