727 deep steel pan

I recall reading somewhere about a 46re pan that you could buy new that included a pan, rubber gasket and filter.
Does any have any info on this item?

Don't forget a filter extension as well if you'd like. You can find them for under $20 on ebay with hardware.

Do a search for "727 filter extender" on ebay. You'll find them for less than $20.

For a filter, I just go to the parts store around the corner. They usually have them on the shelf.

I have a stall laying round, and a small cooler. Probably need to get the biggest score I can fit in there but that deep pan will help! If I can kick this damn double pneumonia I'd love to get back out there and work on the Mopar!

Almost snatched up one here (fabo) last year. Newer, but not a bad deal. I dig the 70s look. Born in 71, so the 70s and leftover in the 80s style is what we had!

Please explain? How does a deep pan "wipe out" the tranny?

A deep cast aluminum pan hanging down there is much more likely to be damaged by road hazards. On top of that, a cast aluminum pan cracks or breaks (leaks) where a steal pan will dent (not leak) when struck by said road hazard.

Many transmissions have been ruined by the owners decision to install a cast aluminum pan

I run a deep stamped steel pan on my Tom Hand built trans. Don't forget the Mopar gasket. It's pricey but it DOES NOT leak and is reusable.

Well I dove into the rabbit hole on this one. eBay is the cheapest route for everything. This is the pan I went with

I got the WIX filter from my local parts store just for convenience. All told I spent just under $85 for the whole swap with tax and shipping included. Hopefully worth the extra capacity and drain plug. We shall see.

LOL, my headers hang down lower than the pan.
The alloy pan will seal better for obvious reasons.
And there are claims that the more rigid design helps reduce trans case flex. You can stick a temperature sensor in them.Better heat disbursement, blah, blah.

You’ve said this twice now, and the pan in question is still made out of steel. This is a stock steel replacement for the overdrive version of a 727. Steel not aluminum.

I paid $28 shipped for mine, about the same price as a stock replacement pan.

Sorry, I was referring to the Alloy pan. Those steel ones are good value.
