So I have a 67 valiant and it has a 727 3 speed sitting behind a 408 stroker engine. The issue I am experiencing is the 2-3 upshift and downshift at part throttle. 1-2 works like it should. Basically you give it light throttle, it shifts at about 2200 rpm from 1st to 2nd, and you hold the throttle in the same spot, and it goes to 3500 rpms from 2nd to 3rd. With the 3.55 gear ratio, the transmission will refuse to go into 3rd until your going almost 50 mph. It will also go down to 2nd at 35 mph without touching the gas. At wide open throttle, it only goes up to 5200 rpm before shifting, and 1-2 and 2-3 are the same. I know how to change the wot shift points, but I just don’t want it to hold onto second gear for so long without compromising the wot shift points. I had someone rebuild it with a stage 2 shift kit.
