Hi all.
I only recently dicovered (watching and old ad) that the wiper arms are supposed to go behind/under the hood.

My car doesn't do that, is this the right motor for it?

I have to turn it off when it's down. It will stay where it was when I turn it off, it won't go back to initial position.

Anything else I could look at? Someone mentioned it could be related to the switch?

Thanks

There are 3 speed and 2 speed wiper motors, each has its own corresponding switch. The one in your picture is a 3 speed wiper motor, so, you need a 3 speed wiper switch.

On an E-body the arms should "park" and be hidden under the hood when they're in the proper location, and they should return to the parked position regardless of when you turn off the switch.

This is from @moparmat2000 in another thread regarding the function of the "park" mechanism, maybe he'll chime in

The park mechanism inside the wiper motor is broken. How this works is when the switch is turned to off, power is actually switched to 2 internal contacts inside the motor. These contacts remain closed so the motor runs until it reaches its parking point then the contacts open. When they open the motor shuts off. There is either a cam or ramp arrangement that lifts the contacts to seperate them and kill power. They are plastic, sometimes they wear out or break.

Thank you so much.
The switch has 3 stages and I managed to remove it today, but something definitely isn't right. There are "sand" coming from it. LOL.
