73 Duster

Hoard or sell?

  • Hoard it and possibly never even get to it.

  • Sell to someone who could use it now.

I found this car and will be using the front bumper for my other 73 Duster restoration and was dreaming of turning it into a race car.
I’m not going to be able to do that for a long long time.
Should I hold it (hate to be a hoarder and have many other projects) or should I just pass it along. I think it would make a nice pro-street candidate or would be great race car project.
There is some rust and some filler in the rear quarters but it doesn’t need full quarters. The floor is solid. Trunk needs a trunk pan.
This is my 5th non-running Mopar and I think passing it along is the right choice. I’m in the middle of another 73 restoration, have a race car in the chassis shop, trying to get an engine in my D100, and have a 70 ‘cuda that needs a full resto.
All that aside I just hate to sell a Mopar.

I like it...

Frame connect it, solid mount, fender headers. Get any used rear end with good gears and sg/limited/locker and then it's just figuring offset.
Fiberglass/plexiglas last.

If I sell it I would be looking for $2500. I am using the bumper and brackets for my 73 340/ 4 speed car but I have some spare interior parts and a really nice grille for it that I did not use on the 340 car. I think it needs a dash but I was going to do a fiberglass dash and bumpers. It is missing glass as well but again, I was going to build a race car so I was thinking about Lexan.
The car is in Oklahoma at my Dad's place but I could get it out to San Diego around January if you were interested.

If you can keep it under cover then keep it. If not sell it or save the parts and keep them out of the weather. Car looks savable if it is taken out of the weather. Put your old oil in a spray bottle and spray it down everywhere if leaving it sit. Fill up all the voids.

Does it have a good title?

Do you still have car?

I do. I'm actually on my way from San Diego out to Oklahoma to haul it back. I had a guy wanting to buy it out here but the deal fell through (he's a paycheck to paycheck guy and inflation is killing him). I am going to put in the 318 and 727 from my D100 project and see what comes of that. I have a 68 B-body rearend for it as well that I'm going to put in.

I still don't know which direction I want to go with it. I would definitely sell it but I don't have to.

I'll be back in Oklahoma in a day and a half. If anyone is along the way (AZ, NM, TX) I would love to meet up with some fellow FABO'ers.

Sorry for the way late reply!
Im needing a rear bumper..... it doesn't look like you are parting, but if you do please let me know or if you know of a chrome rear bumper.
Thanks and good luck with the Duster.
