I'm getting a rechrome rear bumper for my '75 Duster and still plan to use bumper gaurds. but mine are a bit rough to spend $ on rechrome. So, plan to post a 'wanted' but first would like to figure out for sure what interchanges. From what I see it kinda looks like all a-bodies run the same back bumper and guards from 74 to 76? Any help appreciated.

I believe '74 Dusters had "fat" bumper guards, similar to '73. But all the '75-'76 Dusters and Dart Sports had "skinny" bumper guards. What do you have on the front?

I have front & rear pairs from a '75 Dart Sport. The rears would fit be appropriate but I don't think that Dart & Duster fronts interchange.

I only need the backs, might be interested in those. But first want to confirm what cars interchanged.

Not in any rush, won't have my bumper till July...

Not sure which one changed when...I have the skinny ones front and back. I believe fronts changed later on most models. What I wanted to know was were they all the same in back? Duster, Dart Sport, 'regular' Darts, Scamp? I Even saw one thing that suggested front and back may be same. I don't think so, but can check that easy enough. Mine actually don't look bad on the outside and would look nice rechromed. BUT, the guts were rust rotted bad. I had to do a bit of work on them to make them useable for a driver. I will either need a very solid set of 'cores'. Solid inside with nice rubber. Not concerned with surface rust inside. Or find a near perfect pair that would not look like crap on a freshly chromed bumper.

      * The style (fat/skinny) are the same front & back based on year. Pretty sure they went to all skinny in 1975.
      * The fronts and rears definitely don't interchange because the bumper contours are different.
      * I pretty sure Dart/Duster front guards don't interchange because of bumper contours.
      * Swinger & Scamp rears may have different contours from Sports & Dusters. I don't have any Swinger or Scamp rear bumpers to confirm.
      * 1974 was a transition year from standard bumper brackets to the "shock absorber" brackets. Bumper guard style remained the same (fat). But I do recall some bumper guards being all rubber and some being 1/2 rubber & 1/2 chrome.

If interested, I have pics to email if you want to PM your email address. Chrome is pretty good, rubber has some creases/dings, inside has surface rust, some chrome flaking & some scaling, but very solid and studs are intact.

Be careful when you order new bumpers. I ordered new bumpers for my '69 Barracuda and didn't realize that they made the bumpers with and without the bumperette holes. I ended up getting the bumpers without the holes by mistake and it would have been very expensive to send them back for the correct bumpers. The Barracuda still looked pretty nice without the bumperettes but it's still a lesson learned. The bumper re-chrome places seldom re-chrome "your" actual bumper, they usually have some already re-plated sitting on the shelf. Treblig

Actually the bumper I am getting is 'missing' one hole. I think most 75 (like mine) and 76,mounted close to the license plate. 74 mounted in next set out and omitted the top hole I previously used. Not sure if I will drill the missing hole or mount them in the wider position.

Well, to save someone else the trouble...
I bought a set from a Dart and they are all wrong. I knew the fronts would be wrong, but seller would not do just sell backs. The backs are close, but contour is off a little and the Duster's are deeper. I will get some comparison picks up when I get a chance.

If the contours on the rear are wrong, they may be off of a Swinger. Dart Sport and Duster contours are the same. Just the style and probably mounting configuration changed based on year. But now I am curious about any differences between '74 & '75. The style of bumperette changed (fat to skinny), but I don't think anything else did if they had "shock absorber" brackets to the frame.

This any help? I think this is a '75. Forgot what the last year was for taillights in the bumper, but those bumperettes were closer to the center.

So, this is Duster and Swinger rear guards side by side. The part that goes up over the bumper is a bit larger for the Duster and the contour over the bump is a little different. Second pic is what the Swinger guard looks like in position on Duster bumper. This is actually seated in the mounting holes.

Found what should be good numbers in 74 book at MyMopar. Need to find pics of these now to verify
fastbacks got #3754066 for both L and R on Rear. All others Plym or Dodge got the 3754118 and 119, R and L
So far, I only found one pic with the 3754066 part number online and it has the double bump in center area like the fronts, which is definitely wrong for my back bumper if they are showing correct pic...

The part #s are a bit confusing, but the catalog listings show a change date of 11-14-73 for the fronts. So that would be a few months into the 74 model year. I believe the rears changed earlier in 73 or maybe with the model year.

I sent you an email.... Just started a new Wanted thread in hopes of 'the perfect pair' but yours may still have a home on my car... No rush this time. Jumped the gun on that Swinger set. :BangHead:.
