I can buy either for the same price is one better then the other to build a mild street engine (compression better on older one)
Thanks

Isn't an '86 a roller engine?

That would sew it up for me.

Heads are better, cam being a roller is a winner and the profiles can be custom ordered with a quick phone call and at no extra charge or a minor amount more at worst.

A head milling would improve the ratio quick and easy.
New heads, like the Indy X head would be a serious homerun!

Correct me if I am wrong, I don't think the 86 is a roller motor, but is machined for the factory roller lifters. The factory roller lifters are only like $110 or so a set.
My personal preference is, I would go with the 86 Engine even if they were exactly the same.

Just a quick question, would the factory roller lifters be better for lets say a 91 Dodge 360 hyd. roller engine?

My 86 360 block had no rollers either or are just fine to build although 77 sounds better that 86.

Even though an 86 does not have factory roller lifters, aren't they machined for them?
