Wanted to see if anyone knows where I can find something to use as guide pins to install a ring gear on my 8.25 carrier. Left handed fine tread.

    Thanks

I bought some .375-24 LH allthread from McMaster-Carr and made my own.

Set the ring gear on the carrier loose and start two bolts.
Then tap the ring in place and add the rest of the bolts.

I did this, and added the other bolts, slowly tightening them crisscross until it sat flush remove all bolts, applied tread locker, torqued to 55 ft pounds, good to go. Thanks.

They're totally unnecessary, though I've seen people who would not install ring gears without them.

Put the carrier(sure grip or open) in the freezer and the ring gear in the sun light or have a hair dryer or heater warm it up. It will fall together. Then just scew in the bolts.
