Hi all, I'm having a 8 3/4 diff that I bought for my 71 Duster rebuilt by a local speed shop. they will be installing new bearings and seals along with a new sure trac unit. It's from a '67 ish Dart GTS. I took the brake parts and backing plates to a local parts shop and was able to match up new wheel cyl's and shoes. The issue seems to be finding 10 inch drums. They seem to be hard to find. The question is, will the rear drums from my 71 Duster with the 7 1/4 Slant 6 diff fit the 8 3/4 diff. The car is in storage and I don't have access until the snow melts, so I can't compare or measure anything. If I can't find the drums, I will have to consider a rear disc brake conversion set up. But that would break the bank!

The answer to your question "will the drums from my 7 1/4 rear housing fit my newly acquired 8 3/4 rear housing " is "NO". The drums you need are available from rock auto. 10" small bolt pattern.

Assumptions....
  1. The rear drums on your 7 1/4 are 10 x 1.75
  2. The backing plates on your 8 3/4 are A-Body backing plates for 10 x 1.75
  3. The axles are stock A-Body axles, SBP
then YES the drums are the same and interchange.

I did this on my 67 Dart 7 1/4 to 8 3/4 swap

Thanks very much! The drums on the Duster currently are new! I will double check when it isn't -20C outside.
