What determines which low gear set to use. 3300# car 700hp sb. 29x10.5 rear tire. 4:11 rear gear.

IDK, but I think the stall will be a big player
There is only 11% difference from 2.45 to 2.74. What's that come to in ftlbs at stall?
But it's a bigger jump from 2.74 to 1.45; 53% split, versus 59% with the standard 2.45 low. That is mathematically 400rpm at a 6600 rpm shift, but wouldn't make a big difference with a 4000+ TC.

U prolly won’t need a low gear set with that kinda power. Usually the heavier the car is, the more it will benefit. Newer 998s and 999s have a2.74 low gear set. Kim

Isn't the 2.74 1st gear comes with a 1.54 2nd gear?

Yes , from the factory, the A999 ratios are listed as 2.74-1.54-1.00
and 904s are listed as 2.45-1.45-1.00. I have rebuilt several examples and have seen the different sun-gears,etc.
