Im trying to remove the speedo cable from the trans. I have removed the holding bracket and bolt. Should it just pull out from here or is there another step?

if i understand you correctly your pulling the speedo pinion housing? if so yes it pulls straight out. to disconnect the speedo cable you simply loosen the big nut completely and pull the cable off the pinion housing.

Remove the cable first so you do not damage it, the original units have a hex head retainer.

Then remove the speedometer pinion housing, they can be a tight fit.

If the transmission still has gear oil in it, have a drain pan ready.

Thanks for the replies. I am removing it only to get the trans out of the car. I have discovered it simply unscrews. I just wanted to be sure before i went twisting things.
