I am having a difficult time trying to determine the proper description for the transmission seal I am looking for. The wide variety of seal available confound me. To put it in the simplest form, I am looking for the seal that goes on the shaft on the forward facing portion coming out of the bell housing area and the torque converter rides on. Is this the input shaft or is there another description. I am told that both the 904 and 727 both use the same seal. does anyone have the proper part number to solve my problem. Thanks in advance.

I guess I am confused as to what to call it, and therefore I don"t know what to order. I suppose the best way would to remove the old seal and measure it, take it to the transmission shop and let them figure it out. Thanks for your help/

I believe this is the one, Im currently working on 904 stuff.

I "think" its input shaft seal, altho it mounts in case. I printed out an exploded parts view, but for life of me cant figure out their "numbering " system. Google "whatever it takes transmission" for parts/breakdown. You can also Google P.I. 12575
Also Rockauto.
Eureka, I believe that is the one!!!!!! Do you know what brand it is? And if you don't mind what is it called?

Different names for it in descriptions, but here are seals that Rock Auto has listed. You should be able to buy one at your local auto parts store.

Here is seal i removed from 67 non LU 904.
It has # S-10134. On it
**edit, disregard! I dont believe this is correct seal! The correct one has P.I. 12575 stamped on it.**

That number should be good across the brands, at least that's how it used to be.

NO, the front pump seal for a 727 is not the same as the one for a 904. Converter hubs diameter (727 is larger than 904 hub) are different, so the seals will be different. You don't say which transmission you have, but once you know that, getting a front pump seal for either transmission won't be a problem.
