Wow, 1 hour drive? You want all the cars for sale to do a parade by your place?
Cmon man, 2nd thread(in my opinion)due to laziness or trying to lowball.
RAT ROD AL just sold his beauty notchback cuda for approx $17k. Should have had him do a drive by and see if it met your standards...:drama::rolleyes::poke:
Oh our 67 was a 4000 mile round trip approx.

You probably don't have a clue what arthritis is all about, there has been day's when it's difficult to walk. Laziness, I've worked 12 hour shifts 7 days a week for 3 weeks straight

I drove 5 hours one way to buy an engine once. Why does the car you want have to be an hour or less away?

Sorry to come across as an inconsiderate prick. IMO this 2nd thread by yourself struck me as "whining" that YOU cant get what YOU want for what YOU want to pay, without doing legwork. Sorry if I've misinterpreted and wish you luck.
Yes I know of arthritis, severe back pain and 12hr shifts.
Good luck in health and the hunt.

I've been in your shoes. In my case, I was looking for a specific A body at least semi-locally which I defined as 500 miles. I never quit looking over the course of 3-4 years. I found both of my target cars for $2k, one 15 minutes away one 45 minutes away. I found my truck for $200 about 2-1/2 hours away. The reason I was able to get them was I never stopped looking, and I was on CL, FB, and BAT. I had cash in hand, a truck, and a trailer that I took to each meet-up. People know you're serious when you have cash and a trailer. If you're that close to St. Louis, there has to be a nice A body nearby for way less than $10k. Like WAY less. Keep your nose into the grindstone, you will find something nice.

You guys think that I'm lazy and don't want a car bad enough because I won't travel all over the country looking at cars, I know that a car isn't just going to show up on my door step. I have x number of dollars for a car and if I go traveling all over, that takes away from what I can afford to pay for a car. I don't see why mid 20's won't get me a decent car. I don't want a project car that's why I'm budgeting a decent amount for it. Yes, I know that I'm talking about rebuilding the engine for performance and that's aside from what I'm wanting to spend on a car. There hasn't been a "A" body in the st.louis area for a couple of years. I'm going to increase my travel distance since I can't find anything in st.louis. I like cars as much as the next person, but they aren't my main / only goal in life. I'm wanting a nice car to enjoy, I don't want to be working on it all the time. I figured that if 22-25k isn't enough for a clean rust free "A" body with ac,ps, and a automatic, I don't know what to think.

I have other things to do in life besides traveling the country looking at cars. Sorry, but I wouldn't travel 4,000 miles for a car.

Well I apologized in my 2nd reply but you quoted my 1st reply. Its too bad, you wont travel a reasonable distance. Us 3 diabetics had a great trip and even with Dad gone, it continues to make memories. Have you checked local car lots?

Yeah there is a business shipping them over there.. car haulers and all. it will dry up ...like everything else.Only thing that will d e l;fet is the old barges that noone wants, the Cadillacs, Lincolns,Buick ,and Olds...Imnperials and Chryslers from the late 60s and 70s...anyone looking, Maple motors in Tennesee has some nice cars at reasonable prices. I'd bet you could fly there and drive back etc.

I'm going to increase the distance that I'll travel to look at cars. What do you consider to be a reasonable distance? I seen your apology and I thank you for that. As far as your cuda, I can only think of one word AWESOME

I traveled from my house east of st louis to northern iowa. 9hrs 1 way to get my 2nd duster. It was a numbers matching 71 twister for 2500 bucks w 1k worth of new suspension included. This was 5 years ago. It was a daily driver for the guy. Be patient and dont exclude something just because of distance

I'm going to be patient and I'm learning that going farther may be what it takes. Also, I'm not going to just focus on A bodies.

                              Thanks, again sorry.
As far as the $$ goes, absolutely you should get a great car for $20k.
If I was searching(I'm always looking) dont let distance be an issue. Not in beginning anyway. Find the car 1st, then go from there.
Also if it turns out a state or 2 or 3 way, reach out to a member on here by starting a new thread asking for "inspection/help"?
There is an assload of members here that love to help others spend their $$ on mopars.
Thanks for kind words on car.
                              Good luck!

That's good to know that members are willing to help out, that's awesome. Is your cuda a 340? I want to wish everybody a Safe and Happy Thanksgiving. I was thinking that 20k should get me a decent car. It doesn't have to be a number matching car either. I'm wanting something that I can enjoy and not have to restore the body right off

Use 10 hours as a number. And if you find a car consider this option and only after you have thoroughly went over the car with the seller and that is locate someone in that area (FYI- good people here on this site) and have them look. If it's a fit make a deal and road trip. Fly, and drive back or tow whichever works.

10 hours can easily be driven in a day with a buddy towing a trailer. Make it an adventure. But what I will tell you is be very cautious about dealing with brokers. They have alot of inventory to move and IMO will tell you what makes your ears glisten to make a deal...

I would 2nd what Slopar said. Factor in an overnight trip(if you can). It could be the car of a lifetime. The 67 we have now(Formula S, 273 Commando California car) was a good deal. Even factoring in the expenses in travel. We travelled from Ontario Canada to Colorado for it. We spent 1 night in a hotel in CO and 3 of us took turns driving. It was Dads purchase that I eventually bought from his estate when he passed 2 years later.
The "muscle" dad had previous to that was a 58 Apache Fleetside we picked up near Appleton Wisconsin dad found online. Another memorable trip with Dad. Would love to have that truck back.
