Yes. He's gone into great detail about it in one of his videos. He talks about the flex Chrysler "built in" to the cars and how installing frame connectors makes them more rigid than they should be. Just to basically cliff note it.

Shop is rented. cars are junk they all need something. His parts are junk also. If anything he had was good, he would have sold it already. What you are seeing is a façade and stage props. Ill let it go because this thread cant be all about him but just know he isn't someone to look up to in the car community not if you are serious about having a car and driving it down the road or strip.

It was posted on here somewhere a while back. I think that's essentially what it said. I never watched it. I mean, I've SEEN first hand cars speed up with nothing except having the frame rails tied together. So, what's that tell you? lol

Its like any other car if you are going to really run it hard reinforce the chassis and suspension etc. Stock HP its ok. Fox Body Mustangs are notorious for needing subframe connectors.

Ice man, what’s the issue here. Are people wondering if it really raced on the streets here? There’s no doubt it did, I saw it a few times. Once up close near the train tracks on Conant Ave near Mt Elliot. I didn’t know the owner’s name but he was meeting a guy named Eric to look at Eric’s new Mickey Thompson unbelievably wide tires on his street Road Runner. Eric was running a Ramchargers ‘68 hemi in his car. How do I know that? I was his neighbor, my father owned the Ramchargers Road Runner (with a 440 6bbl in it) for a few years. Eric’s father was a former Indy engine builder and bought the RR when Ramchargers upgraded to the Cuda. Eric knew he couldn’t catch a race riding around in a full race looking car with the giant Kendall GT-1 billboard on the side so he pulled the hemi and put it into his B5 RR. One evening he outran multiple Highland Park cops and they knew him. The sad part of this story is that a judge ordered the engine DESTROYED. Some dudes came out to his home on Miller Street and filled the block with concrete! Eric subsequently picked up a push-button 413 wedge car and continued his hobby. I lived on the next street and shared an alley with him, I’ll bet there’s still rubber on that pavement to this day. Here’s the RR in its racing livery. Somewhere I have a picture of me sitting in the garage next to it, it’s the fastest car I’ve ever driven, definitely the sweetest sounding. I’m going to read more of this thread, good to hear from some local guys who did the “midnight shift” around town.

Jim Morrisons Mustang GT 500 was never found, I wonder if someone discovered it stored away somewhere, what that car would be worth today

There is a Shelby out there that is reported to be Morrisons Mustang, with damage consistent with the damages caused by Morrison himself. The guy would like to authenticate it, but there is another guy that has all the documentation for the Morrison Mustang, and he refuses to provide any information unless the guy sells him the car. That’s interesting, I’ll have to watch for updates on that one. There’s a guy near me who MEMORIZED the vin of Steve McQueen’s C2 ‘vette and searched for it for decades. He finally found it for sale, the woman had no clue of its provenance although he still had to pay a large sum for the car. I’m sworn to secrecy on where it is although I can say it’s within five miles of my home.

No.. i have no doubt it was raced.. i grew up here like you and saw crazy **** on the streets But.. the way they hyped it just made me kind of.. eww.. ya know.. If they found one of tom hoovers hemi test cars that they raced with then OMG.. that would deserve the hype.. That’s 100% true. There are a few imports I’d live to try out but none are of the exotic kind. On that list is an Aston Martin and a Jag. After that, there isn’t one I want to drive. There looks aren’t attractive and they do nothing for the wood in the pencil. So, I still offer 50 cents.

Sonic it’s an old or new exotic or just simply an expensive HP car, the above are the only two I’d consider IF my wallet was thick enough. It is not so my goal posts remain right where I staked them as the others would be a pipe dream and really not worth entertaining.

IF I could afford one, I would. But he assured that if I have the funds to afford one, I’ll have the funds to afford 7.

The problem I see is, Uncle Tony is saying the Black Ghost story bullshit even though he wasn't from Detroit, and was about 10 years old in 1970 when that Black ghost Challenger was purchased new , but claims he "would have known about it"... does anyone else see what I'm conveying here? thank you for your post by the way.

Well, we sorta got onto Morrisons Mustang, but then...as far as the Barris Cuda, well that was the thing back in the day. I recently saw a 68 Dart with a 70s "Doilie" paint job, the wife thought it ugly, I saw it as a survivor from back in the day when they did those custom paint jobs. Anyway IMO, as far as Tony is concerned, he's a Carnival barker is all...that's about his skill level. He's getting way more credit than he deserves by the automotive un- informed.

I would imagine there were plenty of Hemi cars running Woodward Ave by the early 70s . So one that was fast enough to be legend would have to be pretty fast . I mean there was that silver GTX that turned out to be factory supported….
So in that light Tony has a point but he comes off so arragont about it .

In watched the video on this ghost car, very good story. The original owner was obviously a disciplined individual and a hero who served his country with honour as well as serving his community, a good person which adds to the story
Certainly an all original, never taken apart, with all the documentation, car such as this one would bring serious money to the seller.

The UT hate I read here is at times ridiculous, while I personally think UT was over the top with calling this entire Ghost car thing a scam, the on going negative comments about him are also over the top
UT made his name long ago in the automotive field from what ive read, he was a journalist, founder of a couple of car magazines and well known for what he did with these Fox Mustangs
I also read he owns a coffee shop/bar which has live music venues, located just outside of Nashville
So whatever anyone thinks of then guy, he did and does have some success and is accomplished.
While im not one of his groupie's or supporters, I find anyone who calls the people who like him rotten names, to be just as ignorant as what they accuse UT of

There were some 9 and 10 second cars running Woodward back then and a lot of 11 second ones.

That would not surprise me considering it was home to ALL the factory engineers in the 60s/70s . You know some of them were using Woodward as a testbed .
I would imagine there were different classes of racing and maybe the ghost was reveared among the average cars . ???
