Which would be better on a magnum set up like a carbureted crate engine (LA front parts)
I have the ac brackets setup off of an 89-90 TBI engine with factory AC already, wondering if the setup off an earlier 80s version would be better?
This is going into a d250. I have an M1 carbureted intake with centered thermostat at present and plan on using because it's what I have.

I really like the TBI brackets (some others are similar)- they mount the alternator a little higher and fit those big 90-100a. Denso alternators; plus if you feel so inclined a Sanden compressor is easily adapted to them.

In more interested in a factory style (c171?) Compressor.

The TBI bracketry you mentioned works pretty nice. Isn't the C171 AC compressor a small round one like a Sanden? If it is, that is what's on the 318 in my 88 D100. It had been swapped to R134 before I bought the truck and the AC blows so cold it will spit ice cubes in the floor....lol.

Yeah this TBI bracketry came off of a 90 club cab with a 318 that we also got the big transmission tunnel and the a518 out of... So it would be the same as what your 88 has...
If I could figure out how to mount this style AC compressor with them I do have alternator brackets and an alternator to go with for the older 100 amp (the big one, later I believe they started calling it a "114 amp" alternator) that came from a 76 Cordoba

My 88 truck has a little bitty (size wise) alternator on it, but it puts out the juice! I don't ever plan on having a big inverter or anything in my truck, so whatever the alternator is should be good.

There were 2. A 90A and a 120A. Both in the same size housing.
My 89 diplomat had the same alternator as my 88 D100 but the truck was TBI (strangely the worst thing I've ever had for MPG hands down) and the Diplomat was 4bbl carb from factory, but the truck had the voltage regulator in the computer but the car still had the regulator on the firewall just like the 70s cars did

Man my 89 318 d250 np435 granny gets over 20mpg there must have been another prob

Yeah.... I passed it on.... The 87 B250 van that replaced it also ran circles around it every way it could. ...I'm building an 83 D250 right now with an NV 4500 (granny gear and OD) from the frame up as we speak, I'm quite sure it will be better than that 88 was (that I never towed with) while towing with this "new" truck.
That 88 was the only vehicle I've had, that I was happy to see go away
With all I had tied up into it I should have kept it and carb swapped it. Maybe id still have it
