I took one for the team 40 deg in the garage 30 outside.

This is a 67 dart AC

What exactly does the switch in this picture do? It’s listed as an AC-Heater Blower switch. I am assuming that when the AC door opens or closes, that it flips the fan blower to high when either you push the defrost or Max AC?

I have gotten a replacement AC housing that has the AC flapper door that I am missing in mine. But this housing doesn’t have the holes for that switch, and there doesn’t seem to be a lever or anything to flip that switch back and forth. I’m wondering that if on different years or models it’s set up differently or can go somewhere else.

I guess I can fabricate some sort of lever to activate that switch too, or I’m wondering if I even need it. I can adjust the fan speed manually.

Oh, ok. Maybe that blower switch goes in a different location on a 1967 vs a 1971? Or maybe it didn’t one at all in ‘71?

Not even sure if I’d really need it? I’m thinking that it turn the fan on high when the actuator moves one way or the other?

I have to look at the parts that came off and get back to you. Is there something else missing?

Nothing missing. Just that on my old AC housing, the one that had the missing AC flapper door, there are two holes for that switch to bolt to the housing like in that picture.

It looks like the “lever” that the actuator attaches to, also triggers that switch when the door opens, or closes. I don’t see anything on the lever on new AC housing that would flip that switch as the actuator opens and closes that door.

I can probably fabricate something. But I was wondering if any knew exactly what that switch does and if I should even bother trying to hook it up.

Blower fan resistor is on the top by the heater core on my '69 HVAC box.
Yeah, the resistor is intact. Actually, this blower switch plugs into the blower fan resistor. So in know it has something to do with controlling the fan. I am assuming it turns it on high when either the defrost or max AC button is pushed.

From the 1967 Factory Service Manual

Service Manuals – MyMopar

Looks like when that AC Door is in the AC position it increases the fan speed. My '69 Factory AC car does not have that By-Pass Switch:

@1meanfish, I have a Classic Auto Air unit in my Barracuda. They have a division (at least they used to) that repairs and installs Factory AC units. Try giving them a call.

Missing a flapper? That's terrible. Every guy needs at least one flapper in his life.

Seems like there are 2 switched to "bypass" or 2 different methods (different AC boxes?)

Yep, that answered it. Looks like mine is the top one.

There is a “tang” on the clip that attaches the rod to the actuator rod. I don’t have that clip/tang so I’ll probably just fabricate something up.

Though it doesn’t really seem like that switch “has” to be there.

Thank you everyone for your help!

I’m working out a few gremlin's before I start the blown Gen 3 hemi swap. I just finished applying second skin sound deadening and their ceramic thermal coating.

When I pulled back the carpet, I found out part of the reason my car always felt like an oven. It was getting so hot right above the mufflers that it actually burnt through the carpet and insulation!
