After 3 yrs.... Drag Truck...

Is this the truck that is in the intro part of your video's? If so, it looks pretty stout! In that little segment of the video, is the rumble coming from that truck? It sounds wicked, and I always watch it in amazement with that truck jumping sideways coming out of the box.

Thanks! It's the truck, and the rumble is coming from the guy in the other lane.

Going to push a little more with the 5.9.... maybe a couple more rounds. Providing it don't let loose deep inside... LOL

quick question 318, you are pretty much only bracket racing aren't you? So it's just consistency, not best ET.. would a 440 would be more consistent? (i just saw your video, but was thinking about this) I think it would be more interesting to try to run 12s as super consistently as possible and winning rounds than gaining a second with the 440 and doing the same anyway?

P.S. 200k miles on that 5.9? I think i would be throwing new bearings in over winter...

P.P.S. Eventually you will switch to a big block.. would be fun to slap 100-150 shot of nitrous on the 5.9 before it expires, just to see how it goes :)

I think "test and tune" is what I really do, I bracket race when they make me run in trophy. I don't think there is any more consistency in a 440 vs 360.

The most consistent car I ever raced, was a 72 Barracuda 340. It was stone stock. A999 and 3.55 rear gears. I raced it every weekend at Detroit Dragway, in the
late 70's. Weather didn't matter a bit. It was on G-60's, tiny burnout, and in drive. That car ran 15.32 on every pass. I was in the money runs all summer. If I cut a
good light...it couldn't be beat. I remember 10 second cars keeping a bumper on me, as soon as they caught me. They always broke-out.
I also spent more seat-time while I was at the track, while in a slower car. That was an incredible summer.

when i was younger i wanted nothing more than to bracket race all summer... never got to it :( i wish i had thought to move closer to a dragstrip when i bought my house

I drove the car from Shelby Twp. to Detroit Dragway, raced, and drove it home. It was a wonderful car. Oh, and I was in National Dragster.

For those not familiar with Metro-Detroit, it was over an hour each way to the track and back.

You guys that don't have to drive a long ways to a strip are pretty fortunate. It's 80 miles in any direction from my house to a drag strip. We kind of had one in the works a decade or so ago, but the developer at the property it was to be built on was a scammer. He got outted and it never happened.

It's about 2 hours [or more] to any track from our place, now. Ubly, Lapeer, Milan, Stanton, Norwalk, 131, etc....
Funny, I currently live 10 minutes from the location of the old Motor City Dragway.

my closest track is about 42 miles, but takes an hour because of small towns. I drive them there more than I trailer them there, including the Duster last Saturday

At one time nhra ran a street legal program at Pomona, which is ten minutes (or less, if I make the green lights). I drove my 11 second car, two friends who were Ford lovers who had a rearend shop literally across the street, drove their 10 second cars.
When that program was killed by nhra, in a bargain with complaining locals, nearest track was Lacr, 80 miles one way. Trailer and truck time (no drag and drives in those days. )
Got lucky in twenty teen years, two tracks opened within 20 miles. Both now closed.
Now, nearest eighth is 120, nearest quarter is 180, when I'm in california.
My uncomfortable junk might be able to get there and back, but a/c in the truck is SO much better in 100 degree heat.

I keep thinking what would it do in a 3000 lbs Duster.....
