After 3 yrs.... Drag Truck...

I think it's time to compare a little the SM vs Eddy intake. I've had a new in the box eddy air gap that I didn't buy new, and it's just been sitting for a long time. I wonder if that would offer .... :realcrazy:

My shorty is 3680. Your long bed has to be heavier than that.

It’s pretty easy to dip in to the 11s with a cammed magnum in a 3000lb a body on decent suspension.
naw... I had it on the scale, but then added a little weight since so I guess 3600 lbs. I have manual steering, manual brakes, no heater box/blower motor, no radio or speaker, and a 1x6 for a back bumper. And I've got a lot more weight reduction than you in .... RUST !!! LOL

For a reference point, on my engine they compared the rpm air gap to the M1 dual plane. The rpm crushed it everywhere and was 15 or so better up top. Made 349.6 with the M1 and 365.3 with the rpm AG.

Mine is manual steering and brakes, radio/speaker delete, roll pan instead of bumper in the back but I do still have a complete heater box. And the ridiculously heavy 46re.

Nice! I have the speedmaster air gap on it now, 125 bucks on black Friday a few years ago. Didn't know if the RPM air gap would matter on such a mild motor...

The shortbeds (complete with power steering/brakes) I had all weighed around 3750, no spare and half tank. I had my long bed in the 35XX ish' for weight but added the 8.75, and maybe the traction bars or something but I guess it now to be about 3600. I figure it's about like a '69 Satellite, that cuts more wind .. LOL

I think with a stock cam it’s a wash, but with any amount of camshaft the rpm AG begins to show its worth. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen the chinagap and the RPM AG directly compared that’ll be interesting.

Maybe I should do a video, means I have both. Now that I think about it, I still have a SM new in the box as well.
My cam is 218/224 and.494/.501 lift (I'm going off of memory... yikes!) but I have 1.6 rockers so I'm probably .524/.531 lift??

Mine is one step smaller, 212/218 @050 and .480. It’s comp 264r-14 and I have the 1.6s on it as well.

29x9 slicks on those slots look like they should be going on a 1960's front engine dragster.... lol

I like those slots in the video. Not too much offset. If I was closer, I'd rent them slots and slicks...
You wouldn't rent them; you'd borrow them for free. And, if you were closer, we'd have taken Ole' yeller to Cordova already !! I think the "Van of War" would like the idea of ole' yeller on the trailer behind her ....

I just left reading the "post your 12 second small block combo" thread. Goal is to post this truck in there before the end of October. How satisfying would it be to post a 200,000 mile small block that never had the pan pulled in a full size long bed truck in the "12 second" thread... (on all throttle of course) :)
