Not bar hopping. Sway bar hopping

Hopping onto the sway bars. Not the night clubs

Any of you guys install the front and rear Hellwig Bars. I used them in the past on different cars and seem like they get it done pretty well?

Any how to and advice?

I see on summit 2) A body guys say it didn't fit right.

Hope thats old news ..

Also want to lower the car. I see the lower blocks for the rear. They look easy. And maybe do adjustable torsion bars while I'm there.

Hopefully can do both at the same time and they work together?

Thanks.

Following the instructions usually works best.
There's 3 reviews on summit. Both saying they dont fit and its the wrong size.

I was wondering if that was a temporary glitch with hellwig...The 3rd review is in Spanish but he didn't give it a good rating either. No idea what he said. Lol

And I was curious if lowering the car would alter the geometry of the front and rear arms and need attention,

Not sure what you guys have been using?

Thank you

I used Addco bars on mine. They're WAY cheaper (Important to me) but admittedly, their mounting hardware is crap. I used some universal energy suspension mounting hardware and even with that added expense, I still have a lot less. The actual bars themselves are very good. Mine is a 64 Valiant. I put 1 1/8" bar on the front and a 7/8" bar on the rear.

I wonder if the people that find they dont fit, may have the car either higher or lower than spec, I guess that might make that measurements slightly different but I'm not sure.

Or, they just might be stupid. Lots of that going around here lately.

Terry on Facebook says he is happy with his 66. Sway bar

65 does not have the same wheel base as a 66?
Although that geometry seems less than ideal from what I would expect. Terry says its good, but Im not sure.

As far as I know they have the same wheelbase. That looks like it may be a 67 and up bar on there. It's pretty wide and the link angle is pretty steep.

for sway bars 64~66 is all the same (as well as 63 and 62 to some extent)

it's more likely they have some other issue causing fitment. people often don't know what they have, order what they think they need and don't read the instructions.

hellwig makes a very good product, i wouldn't hesitate to run them (i happen to have different stuff on my current cars) and have installed a bunch.

try not to run too big of a block, it can cause axle wrap and mess up the pinion angle (which should be checked anyway). an adjustable front hanger is a better play here.

not sure what you mean by adjustable torsion bars.

without seeing the front (the 67~72 bar has a hump) i would guess that's the correct bar for the stock LCA tab which is on the outer edge.

it's obviously not a great angle with the pickup being off the shock mount.

Mine uses those shock brackets too, but my link kits are straight. That bar just appears too wide. Maybe it's the camera angle, or just a different bar.

I covered that when I said "stupid". LOL
i mean, yeah, there's plenty of stupid to go around. but sometimes people are just ignorant. bought a car, hopped on whatever website and just ordered up what they thought they needed. didn't know X or Y has been changed in the 50+ years before they got it.

The variable range of ride height in the front on the mopar is great. But I think Terry may have dropped his ride height a couple inches. I would be curious to see a dropped car and, see if it created that angle like that.

Adjustable end links might help

Yeah. Stupid. lol

I installed a Hellwig bar on my 67 Dart. Installation was easy as I had a few parts off already that made access easy. Good quality hardware. No complaints.

I think you guys are referring to "track", not wheelbase.
thank you for clarifing, and they are the same as I look it up now Im seeing
(Please correct me if Im wrong)

The frame rails were wider in 66, track width and control arms are the same as 65, I guess that how the parts are interchangable? I thought the 66 was wider, actually got wider in 67?

it makes sence the bar fits

Let see some pics of sway bars on cars.

Not mine but only one I could find

stuff got wider in 67, not 66. and then wider again in 73

Edit: for clarification, the frame width changed in 67, the track width changed in 73 (with the new brakes)

that makes more sense. thank you for clarifing.

I wonder if the people that find they dont fit,
Installed Hellwig on the front and rear of a 67 Dart worked and fit fine.
I will say you may have to shorten the end links if you go lower. Had to do that on a 66 Charger that was real low.
