Hi all, I've got a set of 13 inch rims and trying to find any tires with the original tire size is rough P185/80R13 90S. I've though about going to a bigger size, but I have all the hubcaps in perfect condition I'd hate to switch out of those. I asked Chatgpt for alternatives, but I'm not sure if these are right (I'm not a tire guy):
Tire SizeNotes
165/80R13Narrower option, good for older compact cars
175/80R13Slightly wider, still fits comfortably on 5–5.5" rims
185/70R13Lower profile than 185/80R13, sportier look and slightly less sidewall
185/75R13Close in overall diameter to 185/80R13 but may be easier to find
185/80R13Original size you're asking about, tall sidewall, classic look
195/70R13Wider tire, fits best on 5.5–6.5" rims

Does anyone have any experience with these alternatives on 13 inch rims?

Yes. I've been running the 185 70 13 Galaxy Vitour R1 tires on Vixen now for almost five years. They wear good and ride quite well. I am very satisfied with them. Although they are slightly shorter than the original height tire, it's not much difference.

Thanks for confirming. This helps me alot.

I'd go with the P185/75R13. Closest overall match, just a hair wider- you'd never even notice.
If the only reason you're staying with 13s is for the hubcaps, be aware that the "poverty/dog dish" hubcaps will fit 14" factory sbp wheels also. Full wheel covers however are wheel size dependent.

But they're in really good shape, LOL. :)

Here is a formula that will spit out an approximate tire height for you;

{(Metric branded width/25.4) X (aspect-ratio X 2)} plus tire diameter.
Example 185/80R13
{(185/25.4) X (.80x2)} plus 13=
{7.28 X 1.6} + 13=
11.65 + 13=
24.65* see below

*Metric sizes are rounded up or down to the
nearest 5mm(.197 inch)~ 3/16; So, your diameter could vary PLUS OR MINUS 3/16, depending on which way the tire was rounded from 185mm.

My sister has the same issue with her 6 cyl 65 mustang. I had all the parts lined up to swap it to 5 lug but she chicken out
