I see both a passenger-side and driver-side water pump housing available for RB engines. It seems like most are driver's side. In an A-body, is an drivers-side exit correct?
If I want power steering, should I go for the passenger side exit to free up space?
Thanks in advance!

depends what radiator you will be using ,the lower outlet on A body is I believe is on pass side.

My 1970 Dart with a 440 is using a pass side exit housing because the rad Im using has a pass side lower rad outlet

I had a left side inlet water pump housing on the low deck big block in my 75 Dart Sport along with a BeCool crossflow radiator. All parts I originally bought and installed on my 67 Satellite in the very early 2000s. No right side inlet aluminum housing was available at that time. On my combination the driver side lower radiator hose slightly rubs the strut rod. At full suspension droop it rubbed a little more. I always had to keep an eye on that but it never did rub through. With a factory style radiator it probably would not have that contact.

Now that 440Source is offering both styles, you can choose whichever side you want, or whichever side matches your existing radiator. Either one works.

Whichever you choose, make SURE the water pump housing inlet is machine correctly. A lot of the early 440 source housings had the water pump inlet on the housing machined with a tiny inlet hole up in the hose attaching point.

Like a porosity or something? I figure they're ALL made in China now...

I had three different aluminum pump housings at one point last year - a 440 Source unit, Speedmaster, and CVR. The one from CVR had the largest internal passages of those three. You want one that's rounded in the circled area rather than flattened. That's generally where the restriction is - at least it was on the other two I had at the time.

Passenger side pump intake may interfere with timing tab access.
You might note your heater hose sizes if using.
A MP housing for reference if it helps........
