:banghead: Well yet again. As some know i got my new sending unit and gas tank in and the ol67 Dart running. I decided to hook up the most simplest thing ever. The wire for the fuel gage. I have no idea why but it did, the dam thing snaped off while i was tightning it. Yah!I didnt torque on it or nothing. Now what? can it be fixed or do i need another sending unit?Totally BUMBED:bootysha: Pics aren't great sorry. I, well Ron got the sending unit out today. Found the outter piece that broke off wasn't really That bad. The plastic then a small rubber ring on the outside was in ok shape, the inside portion was were it broke. It seem to have broke from the metal piece that is crimped on the the part that goes to the outside. Got it soldered on but spins. Thinkin some JB weld on the inside and out should do it. Its not tight so it will probly leak some fuel..........Any other suggestions? Thanks

Even though they have a threaded stud. All the factory wires I have seen on "A" bodies are rubber boot style that just press on to the sending unit (almost like a mini 90 degree spark plug wire boot). Don't know if that had anything to do with your problem or not. Might be able to remove the sending unit and repair it with a epoxy compound of some sort.

Thanks. Its going to have to come out to inspect. I do have that boot but it wouldnt stay on.

I'd say you are going to have to pull the sender. "If you are good" you might be able to solder a pigtail to what's left, but what??? holds it in there? Is there still a nut on the bottom next to the insulator?

Thanks. Its going to have to come out to inspect. I do have that boot but it wouldnt stay on.

I know it doesn't help now, but for future reference you can squeeze them slightly with a pair of pliers and that usually compresses the fitting inside to help it stay on.

if its not to cold out sunday im planning on taking the unit out, dam,so close. i even have the shifter in as well. thanks Bad sport, it wouldnt go on, maybe it was compressed to much. I just thought putting a eye end on would be good enough. Wrong again
