Another WIW thread, Now with Pictures '75 Duster 360, A63 interior

Barrett Jackson has its place in the world, but it is not in the real world! To me it's the same with most products!! You can buy art, and hang it on your wall, and you can also buy art from the Louvre and hang that on your wall as well! Both are art, only one is collectible, and affordable to the deep pockets! Same with guitars, I can play a $10 pawn shop guitar and make it sound good, but I own a Martin because it sounds great!

Where the confusion comes into play is when somebody sees their car on an auction show and thinks their car is worth what the car on TV is worth! And yes, clones are also ruining the hobby! Just because you spend $25k on a Satellite doesn't make it worth what a Roadrunner would fetch!! Dollars to dollars, yes, you spend the exact same to restore each car, but only one has a pedigree!! These cars are not an investment, except at the highest level, and that's not where we play here! If I have a 68 Dart and so does my neighbor, but mine is an original Hemi car and his is a /6, who should put $25k into their car?? So, just because the guy with the /6 puts $25k into his car, does that make it worth $25k?? We all know the answer to that, but we are in the hobby and are armed with knowledge! The guy who sees his dream car on TV might not!!

Yes, B-J exposes the public to these cars, but at an unrealistic level, and it takes a smart, and informed buyer to know that! I for one would research any car I bought no matter where it was being sold, not so with buyers who buy with their hearts, or deep wallets!

None of your post really made any sense, really, both grammatical and the message. However, it feels like you are generally disagreeing with me and that's fine.

Good luck with your car and future car's and their restorations.

I was trying to use grammar from the "great white north". good luck at BJ

It's not just Barrett-Jackson, Classic Car "dealers" scamming people looking for cars that they had in their youth. Get everything inspected.

just as ugly though.. rare and desirable are two different things....

Just as ugly as a Hang 10? Seriously? Tough crowd here. Guess everyone has an opinion.
Prolly takes some work to clean it up but looks a lot better than ugly common "everyone has it" black interior.

Hang 10 002.jpg

Huh? Just trying to convince anyone that black interior is common. Unlike Hang 10's and the like which were unique. Jealous or another destructive comment from you; seem to be good at that.:poke:

black is common i agree. but its common for a reason.. that hang 10 mess obviously wasn't any more good looking in the 70's then it is now or you would see more of it around. just because something is unique doesn't mean it looks good..
but hey, whatever floats your boat man.. if you like that mess for whatever reason so be it. its your opinion, your car and your money not mine..

I have a 79 Volare. the seats are cloth and plaid but not loud. and realize this was the "disco" era. if you were not alive back then, I am sure you can look up what it was about, as far as fashion and etc goes.... plaid was BIG.....personally I like the car, one reason it being totally rust free survivor. now, cars of this vintage, mid to late 70's even early 80's for sure, suffer from the fact they came after the musclecar craze. low compression engines, the 79 Volare had a "roadrunner" package, that is stripes, a low compression 360, a far cry from that of 68- runners. (roadrunner)....
SOoooooo, it is like this, that hang ten package was unusual ( rare if you like), but not really popular. black interior was. another example of my feable ability to explain my thought.... in 1967 the 426 hemi was not popular, was unusual, was rare, and was expensive, an engine for the street racer, BUT now after the fact, it is th most desirable engine every built. ( chevy and ford guys might argue this ).....
the key to all this is it is wise to own and spend $$$$$ on a car YOU like. if you want to build a car to sell and that will be in demand by the masses, then build a car accordingly?????????
aftermarket parts? it is a function of how many people will buy a given part, for a company to repop anything.i guess the people that sell high $$ cars at BJ enable the co. to charge more that part!? I say the vast majority f buyers for these parts are simple hobbbiest restoring their ride.
not trying to rain on your parade, making conversation, poor grammar and all. done.
