Any idea where I can find a spindle for my 1970 plymouth duster

Hi everyone,

I have a largely original 1970 plymouth duster. 318 car that had 10" drums all the way around. I did a SBC front disc conversion and have been happy as can be. Sadly, it appears a race worked loose in one of the rotors and ate up the bearing. Rotor is now seized on car. I'm concerned the spindle may have been compromised. The SBC kit is able to accommodate the factory spindle - any suggestions on where I may be able to find a replacement spindle?

The 10” drum spindles are not reproduced, you have to find a used one.

Best bet is probably to put up a want ad here, make sure you specify what side you need because someone might have 1 and not a pair.

Member is looking for right side small bearing disc brake spindle.

Still not a reproduced spindle.

I saw in another post on here that Dr. Diff made a kit that would work with an adapter. Anyone given these a try?

Mopar Reproduction Disc Brake Knuckles for A/B/E Bodies

You need a ball joint adaptor to keep your UCA’s, and then you would need the rest of the 73+ Mopar disk brake set up with the option for SBP drilled on the hub because the SSBC stuff wouldn’t fit anymore.

Further, just because you have the 73+ kit with the SBP added to the hub doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be able to reuse your SBP wheels. Some work, some will not.

It would appear that some FABO members are confused as to what you actually want. Well maybe just one, lol.
But,
Have you already taken the caliper off to verify that it is NOT the guilty culprit? The reason I ask is cuz in 50 years I have never seen a seized spindle-bearing, whereas I have seen lotsa seized calipers.

LOL re your comment about confused members. As to the caliper - yes, caliper is off. Rotor and bearing are seized on spindle.

That is fair re: the reproduction. Sounds like I need to try harder to find an original replacement as many suggested. Thank you.

I have this spindle. I believe it's for drum brakes? I'm just not sure how to tell if it's what you need, 10". I know the car it came off of had a wilwood brake set up on it. If its what you need, It's yours if you pay the shipping. The car it came off of was a 68 dart, 2d post car.

That's a 9" inch drum brake spindle.

It is actually called a "knuckle". The spindle is the part the rotor rides on.
Most people incorrectly refer to the whole thing as a spindle when in truth, the spindle is part of the knuckle.
It is sort of like when people say cement when what they should have said is concrete. Cement is a part of concrete. Taking it further, cement is a component that binds other things together, a glue of sorts.
Have you heard of rubber cement?

i might have a pair laying around here somewhere.. pretty sure we had 10" drums on th efront of our dart when we got it.
