Any new Ram Owners?

My dad and my brother had some issues with the older 5.7s. At work we recently switched over to ram from Chevy becouse of all the problems. I drive a 2022 with the 6.4 if your going to tow anything I’d go with the 3/4 ton at least. The 6.4 is only a couple mpg less then the 5.7 and it will pull anything you have anywhere you want to go. If you’ve got a 100 mile round trip it will cost you around ten dollars to have all the power you want. With the eco system when not pulling it’s not that much difference. With a discount from ram it would make up the difference upgrading from the 1/2 ton. Just my opinion, but I am thoroughly impressed with that 6.4. Went from a 6.0 Chevy to the ram and that thing is like a factory hot rod with a tow package

I understand a 3/4 will tow better but I won't be towing a camper every weekend, just an open car trailer with a 1600lb car 5-7 times a year. The code is only 5% -$200 which will only be about $2300-2500 off so the 3/4 tons will still be expensive unless I went with a work truck white model.

$10 to tow something 100 miles?? Costs me at least 3 times that getting 10mpg.

I've got a 2007 with 165 km on it. I've never owned a vehicle that has needed soooo much work. If it's not one problem it's another with this thing.

Long story short I have been looking into getting my first new truck, bought a 2022 Ram 1500 Warlock 5.7L in early September and started having issues at 400 total miles. The engine wouldn't idle on a cold start and would pop sputter and cut out. Dealer couldn't fix it, and the lemon law process finally went through and Ram is buying the truck back on Tuesday.

Anyone here own a newer Ram and have any feedback? I'd like to stick with Ram and couldn't find this idle issue on the ram forums so I think i truly got a fluke. My father and father-in-law both have 2021 and 2022 Rams and have had no issues.

I wanted the Ram with 3.92 gears as I will be towing my hot rod to races but i am only finding the 3.21. Will this make that much of a difference? I plan to tow my car on an open trailer likely steel to save money. Car is 1600 lbs so with a trailer and spare parts i'm guessing i will be towing around 4000lbs.

Any feedback/reviews appreciated.

I put over 160,000 on a 02 dodge quadcab, rad. seam split , replaced w/ one off ebay.
Front wheel bearings at something over 100,000 , easiest thing I`ve ever done "5 bolts per side ,remove and replace-done ".
Only reason for trading , just got tired of the same ol same ol .
Have 63,000 on a 2014 ram, no problems .
Wife has a 2017 ford , they already replaced the short block in it at 50,000 miles , has always had a flapping noise in the dash area ,or front end , about the 4th elec. problem has shown up , going back in the shop again , good thing its got an extended warranty on it .
My dad drove fords , some of them were average , some were junk to start with , you couldnt melt one and pour it on me !!

I had a 2014 Ram 1500 5.7 8 speed that I put 124,000 and only had fuel pump replaced. Never added any oil between changes at 9-10,000 miles. Got 21-22 mpg. Only reason I traded for pretty much same truck was to get another 5.7 without the E-torque. I have almost 10,000 and nothing but oil changed. Service manager said I did right by not getting E-torque. I have friends that bought new Chevys and have had engine problems so yes any of them has problems. My next door neighbor works for Dept of Agriculture and they put him in a Ford after driving a Ram for about 150,000 miles and he hates it. Said the ride and interior are not nearly good. Buy what you want I don't care but I will keep driving Ram's, Joe

I bought a new Ram 2500 Bighorn 6.4 hemi in April 2021, have 16,800 miles on it and have had zero mechanical issues. The only issue is the XM radio function of the audio system quit working, dealer discovered it was a radio issue had they have ordered a new one. I tow my 72 Dart in a 24 foot enclosed trailer and it does just fine, though gas mileage while towing is not good, but I knew that going in.

I think sometimes these engineers outsmart themselves. Too many bells and whistles all over controlling the truck. One of them produced with a slight flaw at a factory someplace for Chrysler makes the happy new owner have these weird issues. More analogue and less sensorship

Mine has leather and wood grain too. It's not real wood, kind of looks like it at first glass, but it's plastic. And the leather, yeah, it's regular leather, it's nothing special, many (cheaper) cars have nicer leather.

I am on my third hemi ram. 1st 2005 rumble bee (lots of mods, comp 260, tong tubes, hemifever tune, ect , and factory 3:91s) totaled @ 63,000 but no issues to that point. Only towed wave runner with this one. 2nd 2006 SLT hemi, only true duals, cold air intake, and superchips, and 3.55s. towed my 18ft boat for years and later my 22ft deck boat. Traded it in with over 202,000 in 2018, had no major issues (water pump around 130,000, fuel pump around 160,000, blend door around 180,000, ball joints around 195,000). 3rd and current
2018 hemi sport quad cab, 3:21s,currently 71,000 , pull my 22' deck boat all the time with no problems. Only issue so far was cracked passenger side exhaust manifold around 60,000 (covered under warranty).

I'll be replacing my exhaust manifold bolts for the third time soon here. The dealership wanted about $850 to do it the first time, luckily it was covered under warranty, I did them myself for under $50 the second time.

I've debated, but it looks like a set of shorty headers that work with the factory downpipe don't add anything for performance, so it wasn't worth the money. The bolts neck down to 6mm to install the heat shields, they break where they neck down. I might just leave the heat shield off and use graded bolts that don't neck down next time.


I have read they redesigned the manifold for the new Rams, but instead of the bolts breaking, the manifolds are cracking.

One thing that should be done is a filter and fluid change at 50,000 miles. Dodge did at one time used a external transmission fluid cooler that was the size of a gallon zip lock bag and they are known for bursting. Unfortunately mopars have had serious transmission problems for a long time, I don't know if they have corrected any of them or not. The best way to extend the transmission life is regular maintenance and a deeper transmission pan and a external oil cooler.

8 speed is phenomenal it's not the old 48re that was so long ago.

My Dad and brother have Rams a 2015 5.7l and a 2021 penastar v6 both have had no issues whatsoever and the 8 speed is amazing in both. We tow a big travel trailer in the summer with the 2015 no problem.

It was around $3,000 when the truck was new It covers a lot of expensive things the old warranties won't. The thing that sealed the deal for me was IF a covered repair exceeds the blue book value of the truck They cut a check for the blue book value AND you keep the vehicle. It was also explained that the warranty is "Lifetime" as long as I own it and I plan on keeping it A LONG TIME.

I also agree the 8 speed is phenomenal (smooth) and my passing gear at 70 mph is unreal

That's cool. The last 2 rams that I had was a 1989 and 1998, both hard on gas,like 14 on the highway and that's with a 318, 2 wheel drive and I think 2.73's.

when it was a couple months old. They settled but the attorney
got 1/2 the settlement. It burned a quart of Oil every 400 miles
since new and had severe piston slap. The replaced the engine once
and it did the same thing. I ended up selling it to a wholesale dealer.
Hemi engine. My son's 2020 Diesel broke several engines (about every 10K
miles). Bad Denso fuel pump that tossed metal thru the engine. It was source
from European suppler and would not run on American low Sulpher mandated fuel
well. I would never keep a new truck past the warrantee period.

In Missouri, lawyers can only get 33 1/3% not a dollar more. I don't know how it is where you live

I have a 2012 Laramie Longhorn,has 170,000 on it and it runs drives and shifts like new.doesnt use any oil between changes,I have done the exhaust manifold bolts twice.I love my ram and wouldn't trade for any new Chevy?.....................Jeff
