Anyone into old, vintage, antique, railroad, warehouse, industrial, items that might give me a clue to what this old hand cart, hand truck, might be worth to an collector of this type of stuff?

I'm thinking this must be from the 1920's, era, with steel wheels on it, and 4 corner head, nuts and bolts on it.

    Any input would be appreciated.
It's there to be picked, or scrapped, at a house down the street, that the tenant got evicted from.

I found one at the city landfill when I was 16 ( quite a while ago) It was in much better shape than this one.

I refinished the oak with a medium walnut stain, blasted all the iron & painted it semi-gloss black.

I then had a sheet of 1/4" glass cut with the edges smoothed for a top. I gave it to my parents for a coffee table & mom still has it in her living room over 30 years later. :)

On yeah, and it dates between 1880 and 1920 most likely.

Ya, didn't think it was worth much in the condition that it's in.
Not worth it for me to drag it home, and then try and peddle it off on the local Craigslist.
Let it go to the clean out crew that will be coming in with industrial sized dumpsters.
The guy was a "hoarder" like you see on that cable tv show.
A garbage dump, on the inside, and outside.

Wish it was closer, I would take it in a heartbeat !!
Maybe its just the "Picker/Hoarder" in me !!!
Bet I could get $250 for that in Hawaii.
Butt , I'd just keep it

I myself would get it and see what kind of magic I could work on it . Someone would give you some good $$$for it cleaned up or
              re-purposed .

I like the old industrial stuff, I have a reproduction of a old factory cart as a coffee table.

Jim, are you gittin into a new hobby? This is like the 2nd or 3rd old piece you've posted. Purdy cool. I'd say it's no newer than the 1940s for sure. Probably older.

Very, very cool. I would list it for $125 if was mine just like it is.. Vintage carts are super hot sellers rt. now. Do not touch it. Much more valuable with its original patina.
                    Another awesome score. Well done

Very cool piece - it appears to be a WWII vintage piece though there wasn't a lot of advancement in unpowered material handling equipment for about 80-100 years. lol...

"Yard art" would seem to be the main "repurposing" of such pieces.

Feed and grain stores still use these. You can move 8, 50lb bags of feed at a time with it.

If it has a visible Fairbanks Mfg. stamped on it somewhere this piece goes from cool to mega cool & value doubles at least.

It would be cool to sit it in a corner and maybe stuff some old feed sacks with something and stack them on it, or you could put a old barrel or something on it. I like barrels.:)

I did wind up getting this old hand cart.
The "clean out crew" at the house, down the street, wheeled it over to my place, during the late afternoon, today.
I looked on the internet, and found out how some are "re purposing" these carts these days, or also using them for yard art.
I never would have thunk it.
Now i just have to find a buyer, local to Sacramento, that would like to take it off my hands.

No, not a new hobby, but me being in the right place, at the right time.
This neighborhood that i live in has very little turn over, in the way of people moving out, and then new people coming in.
The guy was a hoarder for sure, and had a decent sized back yard to accumulate junk, and had two storage sheds on the property.
He suffered from some sort of serious mental disorder(s) and finally got evicted by not paying his rent, to the landlord.
So i got some stuff, and my next door neighbor got quite a bit.

That's what we used when I first started on the railroad. Used them to move our tool boxes around in the shop. Everybody got their own. That was in '74. I'm sure they still use them. We just put some new handles on when needed. We made those too. As for age can't answer that. As for value not much, you won't get rich. But....the right person will make it worth your while. It's a nice piece and there is certainly a market for it. Or you could just use it.

Here’s what is at the cotton mill where I work. I used it yesterday!! It’s so stinking heavy we use the electric lift instead of dragging it up the steps.
