Should have bought one 50 years ago.. or 2 or 3.!!!

50 years ago I HAD one. Bought it from a friend with about 30K on the clock

Mine in 73 or 4, had a 340 swapped in by then

I do!

But hunting something even better! If it materializes the 383s Is history!

Back around 1980 I had a yellow 70 RR 383 auto ,paid $300 drove it for awhile then pulled engine and trans and put it in my 72 Challenger. Scrapped the perfect body. Wish I still and all the old Mopars I got rid of.

A 440-6 4 speed...but no tach? WTF ??? These engines had NO rev limiters. No wonder so many engines were scattered back then!

Always love this! LOL this is probably the person you're going to buy it from..

Go get it boy. You only live once. You know you want it.

Wow, an original C7 (in violet) car! Don’t see many of those these days.

Maybe whoever bought it intended to use an aftermarket tach. On my own car, the guy I bought it from handed me the tach in a box. It was supposed to have a tic tok tach which never worked. The original owner had stuck a Sun in there, which stayed for awhile. Eventually I put a Jones/ Motrola mechanical tach in there. Mounted it behind the cup for the original, and it almost matched the speedo perfect Similar to this one

I knew a guy named Lou Wakely back in the late 80s that painstakingly restored a 70 6pak RR in FC7 with white top and interior , Go wing , Air Grabber , Color keyed Sport mirrors and more... Sold the car before he even drove it because he thought he was losing his job... Got a promotion instead and moved to Salt Lake... Gorgeous Car!
Nice guy...

By the way, the little OEM tachs were known as junk back in the day, ie in wrong place too small, did not work correctly... people just added a real tach.

He's wrong.
Your's was the "right" color to me.
Color is a funny thing.
It's so personal.
Even then with the overuse of the green on new Challengers and Chargers, it's not my first choice either.
I'll commit a further heresy.
Pistol grips are goofy.
There I said it.
But since "some people" say wing cars are ugly, I think I can get away with that.:poke:
I would rather have a 69 something anyway.
All that being said I would take any of the above referenced cars over a 68-70 Charger just because of the cliche factor.

Smart choice here.

I would love to own that car.
As a matter of fact, i live in Lethbridge, Alberta of all things.
The asking price is pretty darn steep for it IMHO.
I don't know who owns it, and i haven't seen it driving around here either..............

Hagerty puts the value at $78k

Well, i stand corrected.
Getting old i guess.
I still think 20 bucks means something, when really, nowadays it isn't much at all............

I sorta took a big breath when the Hagerty guy told me that as well. That’ll raise your rates far over A body status, that’s for sure!!
